8values MIT adaptation · Full results free
Answer the MIT-adapted 70-item bank. Read four axes, eight complementary values and full free bilingual guides. No party label or population percentile.
70 questions · about 15 minutes · no signup
Rate all 70 statements from Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree. Neutral/Unsure is a valid zero multiplier, distinct from an unanswered item. There are no correct answers. English items and signed weights follow the identified upstream revision; Chinese wording is this edition’s translation, not independently validated as equivalent. Items may feel broad, sensitive or dated; you can leave without receiving a partial score. Responses are opinions, not facts endorsed by FermatMind. No timer runs; 15 minutes is a rough planning estimate. Retake repeats the same fixed items.

Explore the four axes of the open-source 8values questionnaire: economic, diplomatic, civil and societal. This edition preserves the pinned original 70 English statements and their cross-axis weights under the MIT License, adds an author-produced Chinese translation and eight original complete reading guides, and shows both ends of every axis. It is an adaptation of that identified bank, not IDRlabs’ modified edition or the Political Compass Test. Percentages normalize this attempt’s weighted responses; they are not population percentiles, probabilities or validated political identities. There is no closest-ideology assignment, party recommendation or voting advice. All eight guides are free before or after answering.
Five response levels supply multipliers −1, −0.5, 0, 0.5 and 1. Every item’s multiplier applies to its published signed weights on all four axes, so a statement can affect several axes. For each axis, add the contributions and calculate 100 × (M + sum) / (2 × M), where M is the absolute weight sum: 195 economic, 225 diplomatic, 320 civil and 292 societal. Round the positive pole to one decimal place; the paired pole is 100 minus that displayed value. Negative weights reverse the contribution without changing the item wording.
The economic pair is Equality–Markets, diplomatic Globe–Nation, civil Liberty–Authority and societal Progress–Tradition. Each pair adds to 100 and represents one simplified continuum. All seventy valid responses are required. A missing answer is not neutral. Exactly 50 can arise from neutral/unsure answers or offsetting views; no tie-break, highest-value ranking or ideology label is generated. All eight full reading guides appear together.
These percentages are not population percentiles, probabilities, knowledge marks or a diagnosis. Different answers can give the same total, and a small rounded difference has no established significance. Do not compare axes as if a larger number meant a stronger overall belief. The bank contains broad and dated wording; Chinese translation equivalence, reliability and contemporary cultural fit have not been independently established here. One attempt cannot infer a vote, nationality, religion, morality or another person’s motives.
Eight complete public guides explain both ends of four axes, including higher, lower and mixed values and edition limits. A complete attempt shows all four axes and all eight guides together, without assigning a highest-value personality or ideology. Public pages contain no personal answers or percentages; read before deciding whether to answer.
Read the Equality side of the economic axis, its market complement, mixed answers and scoring limits without a party label.
Read the Markets side of the economic axis alongside Equality, specific responses and the limits of a normalized percentage.
Read the Nation end of the diplomatic axis with its Globe complement, mixed responses and limits; no nationality or loyalty verdict.
Read the Globe end of the diplomatic axis, the Nation complement and the difference between a score and a complete political view.
Read the civil Liberty pole with Authority, mixed answers and the difference between normalized responses and political identity.
Read the Authority end of the civil axis with Liberty, response context and limits; no character, loyalty or voting verdict.
Read the Progress end of the societal axis with Tradition, mixed responses and the limits of the upstream wording.
Read the Tradition end of the societal axis alongside Progress, response context and the limits of a simplified score.
It is a bilingual adaptation of the identified MIT-licensed upstream 70-item revision, preserving English items and effects. Chinese is this edition’s translation. It is not the modified IDRlabs edition or the Political Compass Test, and neither endorses it.
Each axis has two displayed complements summing to 100: Equality–Markets, Globe–Nation, Liberty–Authority and Progress–Tradition. They are four continuous summaries, not eight independent traits, a highest-value competition or an ideology classifier.
The selected multiplier is applied to every signed effect attached to the statement. Negative effects reverse the contribution; one statement may affect several axes. The original absolute sums are 195, 225, 320 and 292. No item is silently reassigned to a single theme.
No. Fifty may come from neutral/unsure responses or offsetting views. Percentages normalize the fixed weighted range and are not population ranks or probabilities. Small rounded differences have no established significance; no closest ideology is assigned.
No. Chinese is an author translation, and this edition has not independently established translation equivalence, reliability, norms or contemporary cultural validity. The English source and MIT permission do not provide those missing forms of evidence.
Yes. All eight full guides are public and free without account, email or payment. Seventy valid answers are required for personal scores; you can exit without a partial result. No timer runs, and 15 minutes is a rough estimate.
No. It gives no voting recommendation, party match or automatic ideology. Read the four axes separately and discuss actual reasons rather than labeling other people. Sharing copies a general entry link without private responses or percentages.
Source: 8values/8values.github.io revision 3971ed8bc0c3dda18f9b001013327f382343b74f. The English statements and effects are preserved, including cross-axis weights and the societal weight of two. Responses are presented in ascending agreement order rather than the upstream descending buttons. Chinese is an author translation. These original guides replace the short upstream reading notes, and the less-reliable closest-ideology classifier and band labels are omitted. Upstream or IDRlabs has not endorsed this adaptation. No artwork, ads, trackers or proprietary IDR scoring is imported.

Answers remain in the browser and are not attached to public guide URLs. Optional tab drafts expire after 24 hours and clear on completion, retake or exit-and-clear. Without a draft, refresh loses progress. Retaking the fixed items after reading the guides can change responses without proving a change in political identity. Sharing copies the entry link without answers, percentages or private identifiers; no account, email or payment is required.
