What does this online IQ test measure? Is it a complete intelligence assessment?
FermatMind currently offers an original 30-question matrix reasoning assessment focused on visual pattern recognition and abstract reasoning tasks. It does not cover every cognitive domain, including verbal comprehension, memory and processing speed. One online result cannot summarize all intelligence.
“IQ test” is the entry-page name, not a claim of equivalence to a comprehensive assessment administered by a professional. Use results to understand this task performance. Formal educational, clinical or other high-stakes uses require an appropriate standardized assessment.
How many questions are there? Is this an official Raven or Mensa test?
The current public form contains 30 original questions and takes about 20 minutes. Check the version actually offered on this page. It is not the original Raven test, a Mensa admission test or proof of authorization by those organizations.
Set aside uninterrupted time and use a device that displays the patterns clearly. Estimated time is not a diagnostic threshold, and faster does not necessarily mean smarter. Follow the actual question-page instructions for answering and submitting.
What is the difference between an IQ score, percentage correct and a percentile?
For the current original 30-question form, the Beta score uses a random-response simulation baseline: μ = 5.096, σ = 2.034 and z = (R − 5.096) ÷ 2.034. Beta score = round(100 + 15z), limited to 55–145. These parameters describe simulated random answering, not the intelligence distribution of a representative population.
For R = 8, z ≈ 1.428 and the Beta score is 121. That is not a normed IQ of 121 and cannot establish how many people you outperform. This metric is explicitly not normed on the production population and is not suitable for population percentiles or formal IQ claims. Interpret raw performance and the Beta indicator separately.
Are online IQ tests accurate? What evidence should I look for?
Classic-looking puzzles do not establish measurement quality. Check content coverage, scoring rules, intended ages and languages, sample sources, reliability and validity for the proposed use. Matrix reasoning research does not automatically validate FermatMind’s original questionnaire.
Testing standards emphasize matching interpretations to their intended uses. If appropriate norms or evidence are missing, keep that limitation explicit instead of replacing it with an unexplained accuracy percentage.
Can I use AI, search for answers or ask someone for help?
To observe your own independent performance, solve the patterns without search, AI solutions or hints from others. Assisted results reflect different conditions and are not directly comparable with independent completion.
Keep the patterns clearly visible and reduce interruptions. Record any device issues, fatigue or substantial distractions and consider them when interpreting the result; one session does not define your ability ceiling.
Does a higher score after practice mean my intelligence increased?
Not necessarily. Repeating similar or identical items builds familiarity with formats, rules and answers. Practice gains are different from changes in general cognitive ability, and one improvement does not establish broader intellectual growth.
Track strategies and error types to understand learning. Formal comparisons need tools and procedures with suitable evidence; do not combine repeated practice scores or scores from different websites into an assumed ability-growth curve.
Is this IQ test free? Can I use the result as a certificate?
The current original 30-question FermatMind test and results are free. This does not include other organizations’ examinations, certification or professional assessments.
An online result is not a Mensa qualification, school assessment, hiring credential or clinical diagnostic certificate. If an institution requests formal evidence, check its accepted tests, practitioners and procedures directly.
Does a low result mean I am not intelligent or lack potential?
No. This assessment observes particular matrix reasoning tasks, not all knowledge, creativity, practical experience or personal worth. Interpret a single result with measurement error and the conditions of answering.
Review which patterns or strategies could benefit from practice and use real learning experiences to plan next steps. Persistent cognitive difficulties affecting daily life call for a qualified professional assessment, not a conclusion from an online score.
Can children or people of different ages compare these IQ results?
Not directly. Cognitive score interpretation depends on the tool’s scope and appropriate age norms. Being able to open and complete a test does not establish validity for every age or developmental stage.
Without clear age-specific validation and norms, do not use this result for childhood intelligence assessment, educational placement or cross-age ranking. Such decisions require an age-appropriate, well-supported assessment administered by qualified personnel.
How is the matrix reasoning score calculated?
The current 30-question test uses an objective answer key. Raw score R = Σ[pᵢ × I(item i correct)], where pᵢ is the item’s assigned value and I is 1 for a correct answer and 0 otherwise. Each item in the current original form is worth 1 point, giving a 0–30 range with no deduction for wrong answers.
Dimension scores aggregate their assigned items. Percentage correct = correct items ÷ items in that dimension × 100%. Answering 18 of 30 correctly gives a raw score of 18 and 60% correct; it does not mean IQ 60 or the 60th percentile.
Does an open formula make this a validated IQ test?
This assessment combines visual matrix tasks, objective scoring and item-dimension summaries to observe pattern recognition and abstract reasoning. A standardized IQ interpretation would additionally require representative population norms, defined age applicability, reliability and validity evidence, and controlled administration.
Random simulation describes guessing, not real-population calibration. Applying a mean of 100 and standard deviation of 15 does not create a valid IQ score. These results are not a Wechsler assessment, official Raven assessment or Mensa certification. Repeated exposure also introduces practice and memory effects.
