A full reading of one imagery context
These three scenes ask for imagined adult faces: an eyebrow slightly raised, a side view with a short fringe, and a small smile with round glasses. No real person, relationship or private photograph is required. You are describing a pictured appearance, not identifying someone from memory.
All three numeric responses are needed for a rated sum and mean. Zero means no visual image was reported; a skip means no usable rating. These original numbers are not a diagnosis, percentile or measure of actual performance.
An invented face, not a person to identify
- These three scenes ask for imagined adult faces: an eyebrow slightly raised, a side view with a short fringe, and a small smile with round glasses. No real person, relationship or private photograph is required. You are describing a pictured appearance, not identifying someone from memory.
- The faces need not become complete or realistic. You may have a partial impression, understand the features without seeing them, or find the prompt difficult to interpret. These possibilities are not treated as right and wrong answers, and a skip is available when a rating would be uncertain.
How the three responses are summarized
- With all three numeric responses, the display adds the selected 0–4 values and divides by three for a mean. It shows both the raw sum and the mean to make the arithmetic visible. Neither is a percentage of facial imagery, a recognition accuracy score or a population rank.
- A sum of 9 could come from 3, 3, 3 or 4, 4, 1; both means display 3.00 while describing different attempts. Read the individual prompts as well as the average. The anchors organize subjective descriptions and have not been shown to form an equal-interval scientific scale.
Details may arrive unevenly
- You might picture the glasses clearly but have little sense of the rest of the face. Or a vague expression may be present without a stable outline. The task does not require you to force every named feature into place before selecting the nearest description of your experience.
- Conceptual knowledge can remain detailed even when a visual image is absent. Being able to explain where glasses sit does not oblige you to report a picture. Conversely, reporting a picture does not show how accurately you would notice or remember details of an actual face in an everyday encounter.
Not face recognition or social ability
- This page does not test recognition of familiar people, discriminate between photographs or assess face blindness. Imagining a fictional face and recognizing a person are different tasks. No conclusion about those abilities follows from a small mean, a zero response or a skipped prompt.
- Nor do these responses measure empathy, attachment, affection or whether you care about other people. Vividness is not a moral or relationship grade. The editorial face group should not be used to infer what kind of friend, partner, colleague or learner you are.
Respect uncertainty and opportunity
- Choose zero when you made a comfortable attempt but had no visual image to rate. Choose the separate skip option if you did not try, are unsure how to describe the experience or prefer not to continue. A skip does not mean absent imagery and never becomes a zero.
- Any skipped response withholds this group’s sum and mean, while other fully answered groups can still show numbers. A result with no numbers is still a complete outcome after twelve explicit choices. The full face guide stays readable, so there is no need to invent an answer to unlock it.
An optional everyday approach
- If you want to remember a practical detail about a meeting, you might use written notes or an agreed name list rather than requiring a mental portrait. The relevant choice depends on the actual task and privacy considerations, not on being assigned an imagery category.
- This is a suggestion to consider, not evidence that one strategy will improve your memory or treat a condition. You do not need to upload an image or enter a person’s name here. Any concerns about real-world recognition deserve their own appropriate assessment rather than interpretation through this questionnaire.
Keep the source and privacy boundaries
- These are original prompts, not VVIQ questions or a validated face-imagery instrument. The page makes no diagnosis and supplies no normality bands or comparison with other people. Separate context means cannot establish a hierarchy of abilities or prove that one imagery process caused another.
- Responses remain in page memory and clear on refresh, language change, leaving or retaking. Public sharing opens the same guide without your numbers. If the experience itself concerns you, you can discuss it with a qualified professional; this original score is not required as evidence that your concern is valid.
