Rate how accurately each sentence describes you as you generally are now, not your ideal future self: 1 Very inaccurate, 2 Moderately inaccurate, 3 Neither inaccurate nor accurate, 4 Moderately accurate, 5 Very accurate. English comes from IPIP; Chinese is a new working translation. Choose the separate unscored response if the statement is unclear, inapplicable or you prefer not to answer. Ten selections finish the questionnaire; all ten must be numeric for a personal total. Do not enter private experiences or identify another person.

How do you describe your interest in other people and responsiveness to their feelings? This test uses the ten-item Compassion aspect from the Big Five Aspects Scales. It provides one transparent continuous value and a complete guide with twelve sections, rather than assigning four empathy types. All ten English source items, a working Chinese translation and the full reading are free before and after answering.
In displayed order, odd items keep their 1–5 rating and even items COMP 10_02,04,06,08,10 use six minus the rating. Add all ten keyed values: raw total 10–50, mean=total/10 on the original 1–5 response range, shown to one decimal. For displayed answers 4,2,3,1,5,2,4,3,4,2, the keyed values total 40 and the mean is 4.0. The total is not a percentage or percentile.
This edition has one Compassion value, no high/middle/low cutoff, four-type assignment, separate Emotional Resonance/Caring Action score, norm rank or pass line. Every numeric total uses the same full guide. Any unscored response withholds the personal sum and mean without replacing it with zero or a midpoint; the entire twelve-section general guide remains available.
Compassion is one aspect of Agreeableness, not the whole Big Five, the Empathy Quotient or an objective emotion-recognition task. One source sentence also appears in our preliminary IPIP HEXACO bank; sharing a public-domain item does not make totals interchangeable. We do not convert this ten-item total into a Big Five domain score, HEXACO score or result from another test.
One complete twelve-section guide covers the continuous Compassion reading and insufficient information, with worked examples, conversations, optional actions and source limits. There are no four-band types or two invented subscores. Public pages contain no personal answers or values; read first if you prefer.
One continuous self-description of Compassion, with transparent reverse scoring and examples for listening, helping and boundaries. All sections remain available without a personal score.
It uses the ten-item Compassion aspect of Agreeableness from the Big Five Aspects Scales, with the official public-domain IPIP English statements. It measures self-description rather than objectively tested empathy skills, correct mind-reading or another person’s experience.
No. The single ten-item Compassion key gives one raw total. This edition does not administer the Empathy Quotient and does not create separate Emotional Resonance and Caring Action scores from these items.
Odd displayed items keep the 1–5 response; even items use 6 minus the response. Ten numeric answers yield a raw total 10–50 and mean 1–5. Any unscored response withholds personal numbers without imputation. The full guide stays readable, including when every response is unscored.
No. A higher value means more endorsement of the keyed Compassion content in your answers. It establishes neither relationship quality, job performance, accurate emotion recognition nor future fatigue. No clinical threshold, diagnosis or population percentile is supplied.
Chinese is a new FermatMind editorial working translation. It has no established independent validation, language equivalence or original-author review. The source item “soft side” refers to a tender or caring side, not physical softness or a requirement to agree to every request.
All ten questions and the twelve-section bilingual reading are free without signup or email. Every score and an insufficient-information result can access the whole guide. Public sharing includes only the test name and entry link; answers and personal scores are excluded.
Official IPIP pages supply the English items, keys, accuracy anchors and public-domain permission for commercial or non-commercial reuse and translation. Chinese and the standalone website presentation have no established validation, language equivalence, original-author review or local norms. The twelve-section explanatory guide is FermatMind editorial work, not an official IPIP interpretation manual.
No email, account, second test or private story is required to read all ten items and the complete guide. Answers are scored in the browser. Draft saving is opt-in for this tab for 24hours and clears on completion, retake or exit-and-clear. The public share uses the test name and entry link, without answers or scores. Optional next steps are not an unlock condition.
Official IPIP sources supply English items, keying and permission. The Chinese trial translation and website presentation have no local validation or established language equivalence.
