Original long-term-goal reflection · Full results free
A free Grit Test reflection: 16 original items on long-term aims and returning to effort. Two full guides, without overall bands or success predictions.
16 questions · about 5 minutes · no signup
Privately choose one self-selected aim you intended to pursue for at least six months. Keep that same aim in mind while reviewing the past six months. When relevant opportunities and room to choose existed, how often did the stated practice occur? Select Never 1 through Almost always 5. Use separate NA for no such aim, no relevant opportunity, insufficient information or preferring not to answer, without guessing. No aim name is entered or uploaded. All sixteen selections finish the attempt. Each eight-item part needs six numeric ratings for its mean; four reverse items use six minus a valid rating. Both guides are free, without an overall grit percentage, level or achievement prediction, and you are not required to continue an unsuitable aim.

An aim can continue while its methods change, and serious effort can also move between directions. This edition separates continuity of a long-term aim from returning to effort after setbacks, using sixteen original frequency items about one privately chosen aim and the past six months, with two full guides. It is not Duckworth’s Grit-O or Grit-S and does not establish a stable years-long trait from this shorter review. Privately choose an aim you intended to pursue for at least six months; no name is entered. NA preserves the absence of an aim or relevant opportunity. Each eight-item part needs six ratings for its own mean, without an overall 0–100 score, four bands or success predictions. Adjusting, pausing or stopping an unsuitable aim remains a decision informed by circumstances, not a score. Full text is free, and you can read it before deciding to answer.
Each item offers Never 1, Rarely 2, Sometimes 3, Often 4, Almost always 5, or separate NA. All sixteen selections finish the attempt; each of two parts contains eight items. Items nine, ten, eleven and twelve are opposing statements: valid numeric ratings use six minus the response, while the other twelve are direct. NA is excluded before keying rather than becoming six or zero. Each part needs six ratings for a mean from its unrounded keyed sum divided by rated count, displayed to two decimals with that count, never reconstructed from a one-decimal mean. Fewer than six remain insufficient without borrowing ratings from the other part. Both full guides remain readable. There is no combined sum or mean, 0–100 score, percentile, four bands or highest type. Ordered self-report categories and averaging establish neither interval precision, cross-part comparability, significant differences nor reliable change. Equal means can reflect different patterns without achievement or worth inferred from a decimal.
Keep one aim as the reference for both parts. Opportunity, time, resources and recall affect frequencies; NA is not weak will. Six months cannot represent every aim or a stable years-long trait.
Each nine-section guide covers definition, frequency, examples, optional review, comparisons, counterexamples, scoring and privacy. Qualitative combined reading creates no score cutoffs, four personas or overall ranking.
Read what each of the 2 parts explores. Your complete result presents them together; they are not mutually exclusive personality types. These public guides contain no one’s answers or personal means.
Review how one long-term aim connects plans, choices and interest across stages. Distinguish continuity, changed methods and appropriate stopping without grit bands.
Review reconnecting with action after slow progress, mistakes, pauses or unsuitable methods when conditions permit. Rest, adjustment and appropriate stopping are not failures.
No. The standard scale’s copyright and use conditions do not authorise copying here. This edition uses sixteen independently authored items without standard scores or transferred validity.
The two parts review direction and action separately, each with a full guide. This edition has established no overall score, bands or population norms.
Choose separate NA without guessing or zero-filling. Each part needs six ratings for a mean; all full guides remain available with missing information. No aim name is entered.
Neither follows. Opportunity and circumstances are not measured, and a score cannot invalidate appropriate adjustment, rest or stopping. It is not for hiring, admissions, health judgments or certifying change.
