Think about your own actual expressions during the past four weeks. Rate Never, Rarely, Sometimes, Often or Almost always. Choose NA for no applicable experience, uncertainty or a preference not to answer; it is not a low score. Do not rate audience laughter or the comedy you enjoy watching. All 24 items need a selection and each part needs three ratings for a mean. This is not a joke-comprehension test; each language uses its own natural expression without requiring puns in the other language.

How do you use humor in conversation, messages, stories and small surprises? This Humor Style Test uses 24 original frequency items to explore six expressions that can coexist. Deadpan concerns delivery, wordplay and absurdist play mechanisms, and shared humor, self-deprecation and banter topics or interaction. They are not mutually exclusive personalities. Read all six full guides before answering and receive separate means or insufficient-information states without signup, payment or a preceding assessment. This is not the HSQ and does not rate how funny, intelligent or popular you are.
Four items ask reported use across situations in the past four weeks, from 1 Never to 5 Almost always; NA is unscored. A part needs at least three ratings for a mean rounded to one decimal, otherwise information is insufficient. All 24 selections come first. This minimum is an original completeness rule, not a psychological cutoff. Six parts can coexist without a highest-score type, overall humor score or percentage; decimal differences establish no statistical significance.
Each part has four items with no reverse scoring. All six means or insufficient states appear together, and none of the six full reports is hidden by its mean. Means describe reported use, not quality or audience laughter. Decimal differences establish no significance, and no primary, secondary or personality proportion is assigned.
These expressions mix delivery, mechanisms, topics and interaction and can occur together; they are not six independent mutually exclusive factors. The HSQ separately uses 32 items, 1–7 ratings and four functional subscales. Its items and scoring are not adopted. Self-deprecation is not automatically self-defeating, nor banter an aggressive score; similar words do not convert results.
Read what each of the 6 parts explores. Your complete result presents them together; they are not mutually exclusive personality types. These public guides contain no one’s answers or personal means.
This part explores how often you report jokes delivered through a matter-of-fact expression, voice or message. It measures neither comic timing, coldness nor extraversion, and cannot establish whether others understand or enjoy the joke.
This part explores reported use of meanings, similar sounds and altered expressions for humor. It assesses neither vocabulary, intelligence, language proficiency nor creativity. English and Chinese examples work independently; understanding a pun is not scored.
This part explores how often you report impossible identities, unlikely combinations or imaginary sequences in ordinary humor. It measures neither creativity, reality judgment, mental condition nor membership in a literary movement.
This part explores reported humor around shared experiences, current topics and useful context. It is not an HSQ affiliative score and establishes neither felt safety, closeness nor an obligation to manage everyone’s mood.
This part explores reported jokes about your own minor mistakes, mix-ups or reactions. Self-deprecation does not automatically establish low self-esteem, ingratiation, vulnerability or the HSQ self-defeating function, and grants nobody permission to keep teasing you.
This part explores reported teasing replies to conversational details, exaggerations or minor slips. It measures neither response speed, intelligence, dominance nor charm. Whether teasing is welcome or should continue depends on the other person’s actual wishes.
Deadpan, wordplay, absurdist play, shared humor, self-deprecating humor and banter. They concern different aspects and can coexist, rather than six mutually exclusive personalities. All six full guides are freely readable. A complete attempt shows separate frequency means without assigning a highest-score primary style.
No. The HSQ has its own 32 items, 1–7 ratings and four functional subscales. These 24 items, six expressions and interpretations are independently authored, without HSQ items or scoring. There are no established website psychometrics, norms or cross-language equivalence.
NA is excluded without zero-filling or estimation. A four-item part needs three ratings for a one-decimal mean; otherwise information is insufficient. All 24 selections come first. This minimum is a website completeness rule, not a psychological cutoff. Even six insufficient parts finish the attempt with all guides and retake available.
No. Items ask your own reported expression frequency in the past four weeks, not audience laughter, response speed, intelligence, vocabulary, social skill or relationship quality. There are no correct joke answers, and means supply neither career recommendations, hiring decisions nor relationship matches.
Those inferences are unsupported here. Self-deprecation items concern small personal mishaps and banter items teasing exchanges; neither is an HSQ functional score or a measure of motive or mental health. Whether someone welcomes a joke requires their actual response, and no label overrides a choice to stop or decline.
Every item and six full guides are free without signup or another assessment. Drafts are optional 24-hour tab storage, deleted on completion, retake or clearing. Sharing excludes answers, means and internal IDs. Optional MBTI exploration follows the full result and requires its own questionnaire, without conversion from humor frequency.
All examples are independently authored without copying protected jokes, competitor situations or dictionary examples. Each language organises its own humor, especially wordplay, without claiming cross-language equivalence. Whether expression is welcome depends on the actual audience; stopping or not joining remains valid. The test neither excuses harm nor makes anyone responsible for everyone’s enjoyment.
All 24 items, six means or insufficient states and six full interpretations are free without email, signup or another test. Scoring happens in the browser. Only opting in stores a 24-hour tab draft, deleted on completion, retake or clearing. Sharing uses a public entry and reflection description without answers, means or internal IDs. Blocked storage or copying does not prevent completion.
