Original self-reflection questionnaire · Full results free
Explore four learning-format preferences with 20 original ratings and full free guides. No signup, fixed learner type, ability score or matched-teaching promise.
20 questions · about 5 minutes · no signup
Think of ordinary learning material you chose, can access and can safely work with. For each arrangement, rate how much you currently want to use it, rather than whether it makes you learn faster: from 1 Not at all to 5 Very much. Use NA when you cannot judge, it is inapplicable or material is inaccessible; lack of access means neither dislike nor low ability. Complete all 20 selections; each five-item part needs three ratings for a mean. There are no reverse items, memory scores, grades, fixed brain types or best-instruction verdicts.

For new material you chose, would you currently like a diagram, a spoken explanation, written steps or an example and a small trial? Twenty original situation descriptions organise desire for four formats without memory, speed or comprehension testing. You may want several formats or none of those currently available. The result assigns no fixed learner identity; material, task and access needs still matter separately.
Complete all 20 selections. Each five-item part needs three ratings for a one-decimal mean from 1 Not at all to 5 Very much wanting to use the format. There are no reverse items; NA is excluded without zero-filling. The minimum is a website completeness rule, not a validated missing-data protocol. Four separate means create no total, highest, close-score or tied type, or brain-type percentages. A 0.1 difference establishes neither significance, ability, effectiveness nor change, and differing rated counts limit precise comparison.
Wanting a format here does not establish faster learning, longer retention or higher grades. All four public guides are available first, retaining higher, lower and mixed readings, alternative presentations of the same content and counterexamples. There is no dominant or fixed brain type or percentage based on summed means.
Diagrams, speech, text and examples can appear in one resource. Equal means remain equal and close means assign no type. All-high responses certify no all-round ability, and all-low responses imply no learning deficit. Use NA for inaccessible material or inability to judge; access needs are not low preferences, and this test does not decide support.
Read what each of the 4 parts explores. Your complete result presents them together; they are not mutually exclusive personality types. These public guides contain no one’s answers or personal means.
This part observes your current desire to use diagrams and spatial layout with material you chose. It tests neither diagram reading, spatial reasoning, vision nor memory, and does not turn wanting a format into learning best through it or a fixed visual-learner identity.
This part observes your current desire for spoken explanation, expressing understanding aloud or voluntary discussion. It measures neither hearing, language skill, explaining ability, extraversion nor memory, and a higher mean cannot guarantee better learning from speech or no need for written support.
This part observes your current desire for written steps, your own notes and written questions. It measures neither reading comprehension, writing skill, education nor exam ability, and does not infer faster learning from liking text or require abandoning diagrams, speech or practice.
This part observes your current desire for ordinary examples, reversible small trials or sample material. It measures neither movement skill, practical talent, attention nor career fit, and does not interpret a preference for practice as the cause of restlessness.
No. Items ask how much you currently want particular formats, without testing comprehension, recall, speed or grades. Preference and effectiveness are different questions; a mean cannot prescribe a single format or promise benefits from matching instruction.
This is FermatMind’s original 20-item ordinary learning-format reflection, using no VARK or Kolb items, algorithms, reports or translations. Familiar formats do not establish equivalence with another instrument, and results do not convert to its categories or scores.
Each five-item part needs three ratings for a mean, excluding NA without zero-filling. Equal, close, all-high or all-low means assign no type. Insufficient information still retains all four full guides and cannot diagnose inability to learn, lack of interest or a learning difficulty.
All 20 items, four means and full guides are free, without signup, email or a later purchase. Sharing is optional. Results are not for classroom groups, admissions, hiring, work-ability or accommodation decisions, and every observation can be skipped.
The formal abstract by Pashler and colleagues (2008) distinguishes expressed preferences from instructional matching, finding insufficient evidence then for general educational application while cautioning that not every possible version had been tested. The abstract, selected evidence and discussion read in Brown’s 2023 narrative review likewise do not support the meshing hypothesis. Neither paper was fully reviewed here. They establish neither an ideal mixture for everyone nor validity of these 20 items.
FermatMind independently authored these 20 items and four full guides about current desire for ordinary information formats. No VARK questionnaire, algorithm, translation, report or helpsheet is used, rewritten or hosted, and this is not a Kolb or other standard instrument. Familiar format names imply no official scale or validation. Expressed preference and the effects of matching instruction are separate questions. This edition measures no grades, memory, brain type or teaching effect and has no local validation, norms or established English–Chinese equivalence. It does not determine courses, accommodations, careers or fixed classroom groups.
Answers are calculated in your browser without uploading an answer sheet or placing answers in URLs or analytics. Drafts require opt-in, remain in the current tab for up to 24 hours and clear on completion, exit-and-clear or retake. Optional sharing contains only a public guide or entry, not means or answers. Full content needs no signup, email or prerequisite MBTI; later assessments are separate tasks and cannot convert these preferences.
