Use your familiar experience of the described sound: Strongly dislike, Dislike, Neither like nor dislike, Like or Strongly like. Choose NA if unfamiliar, unsure or unwilling to answer; it is not dislike or neutrality. Rate sound liking rather than recent frequency, theory knowledge, agreement with lyrics or effects on performance. No audio is provided, so do not guess. Complete all 24 selections; each three-item part needs two ratings for a mean.

Do you enjoy returning choruses, a band’s drive, rap grooves, or particular instruments and textures? This Music Taste Test uses 24 original word-based items to ask liking for selected sounds in eight parts: pop, rock, hip-hop, electronic, jazz, Western classical instrumental, acoustic folk and country. They can overlap and do not exhaust world music. Read all eight full guides first, then receive separate means or insufficient-information states without a highest-score personality. Listening uses are discussed separately. There is no audio quiz, lyric recognition, artist ranking or judgment of whose taste is better.
Three items per part ask liking for a familiar sound: 1 Strongly dislike, 3 Neither like nor dislike, 5 Strongly like. NA for unfamiliarity or uncertainty is unscored. Complete all 24 selections first. Each part needs two ratings for a one-decimal mean, otherwise information is insufficient. This minimum is a website completeness rule, not a psychological cutoff. Parts can coexist without a highest-score type, taste-quality total, percentage or norm. Decimal differences establish no statistical significance; a mean is neither listening time nor musical knowledge.
A higher mean describes greater liking for this part’s selected sound descriptions, a lower mean less liking, and insufficient ratings produce no personal mean. This is neither listening frequency, a familiarity ranking nor good or bad taste. Revisit differences among the three items. All eight full guides remain available regardless of mean or insufficient information, and genre preferences are not converted into listening uses.
The eight selected sound families overlap; they are neither a world-genre taxonomy nor a validated eight-factor model, MUSIC, STOMP or an artist-based status task. Choosing for a mood, listening closely, sharing a choice, discovering sound and returning to familiar music are another layer, explained separately below without scores or assigned types. There are no established website psychometrics, norms or cross-language equivalence, nor inferences about intelligence, status, personality, health, careers or compatibility.
Read what each of the 8 parts explores. Your complete result presents them together; they are not mutually exclusive personality types. These public guides contain no one’s answers or personal means.
This part reflects your liking for choruses, foreground vocals and changing song sections, without assuming that you only follow hits.
This part explores guitar-and-bass textures, rhythmic drive and a band opening up, without measuring rebellion, courage or personality.
This part explores vocal phrasing, drum-and-bass grooves and changes in delivery, without assigning a listener identity.
This part explores synthesised timbres, changing layers and sound processing, without reducing electronic music to dance or nightlife.
This part explores changing phrases, rhythmic accents and ensemble responses, without ranking musical education, intelligence or status.
This part concerns selected Western classical instrumental cues, without covering every classical tradition or placing them above other music.
This part uses a narrow acoustic folk scope, without representing all traditional music or equating sparse sound with sincerity or personality.
This part explores vocals, melodic storytelling and string details, without inferring rural life, politics, gender or values.
Pop, rock, hip-hop, electronic, jazz, Western classical instrumental, acoustic folk and country. They are selected, overlapping sound families, not all world music or eight exclusive personalities. Each has a full free guide with sound cues, variation, contexts, comparisons and an optional listening experiment.
No. These 24 word-based items ask liking for familiar sounds without protected audio, lyrics or artist photos, and no recording must be recognised. The test adopts neither competitor artist banks or listening-habit types nor MUSIC or STOMP scales. It outputs no intelligence, status, personality or career verdict.
Yes. NA is neither dislike, neutrality nor zero, and is not estimated. Each three-item part needs two ratings for a one-decimal mean, otherwise information is insufficient; complete all 24 selections first. This minimum is a website completeness rule, not a psychological cutoff. Even eight insufficient parts finish with all guides and retake available.
Not directly. The entry separately explains choosing for a mood, close listening, shared choices, discovery and familiarity, and every guide offers concrete observations. These are unscored prompts, not five assigned listener types, measures of mood regulation, attention or social skill, or promises of health or work effects.
Read them separately without a random primary type, match percentage or taste-quality total. Music categories overlap and items cover selected cues only; low means do not mean having no taste. Uncovered genres are not automatically low scores, and decimal differences establish no statistical significance.
All items, eight readings and eight full guides are free without signup. A draft stays in this tab for 24 hours only after opting in, and is deleted on completion, retake or clearing. Sharing contains the public entry without answers, means or playlists. No upload, purchase or MBTI attempt is required for results.
Ask which sound you want now, then whether a particular recording fits. General liking and usefulness on this occasion are different questions. This test does not measure mood-regulation skill or promise relaxation, healing or health effects. Another sound, a pause or no music can also be a choice.
Choose a vocal line, instrument or section change without requiring a full album or technical terms. Close listening proves neither intelligence, seriousness nor stronger attention; hearing the whole texture is not inferior. Each result guide offers a concrete sound observation that you can try briefly if you wish.
Ask what people want, whether they want music and what volume suits them, rather than choosing on their behalf from a test result. A genre can include recordings with unsuitable subjects or arrangements, so consider the actual version separately. A shared choice does not make you responsible for the room or measure social skill.
Through lawful access you already have, try a sound differing from something familiar in one way, such as similar melody with different instruments. Novelty is not automatically better than repetition, and you can stop. NA preserves unfamiliarity rather than a low score; the number of new tracks is not a measure of openness, maturity or exploration skill.
A familiar recording may carry a memory or simply be a sound you enjoy now. Keep that meaning without inferring a fixed nostalgic personality, age or resistance to change. Personal memories are not collected. Sharing contains the public test entry and does not require private stories, playlists, answers or means.
All 24 items, eight means or insufficient states and eight full guides are free, without signup, email, payment or another assessment. Scoring happens in the browser. Only opting in saves a 24-hour tab draft, deleted on completion, retake or clearing. Sharing uses the public entry and reflection description without answers, means, playlists or internal IDs. Blocked storage or copying does not prevent completion.
