Equal choices for both sides of the contact and space dimension
A 6:6 tie means the two sides were selected equally often across these 12 items. Both remain without a forced leader. The totals cannot establish why: whether circumstances changed, both needs mattered, or another explanation applies needs a separate concrete example.
Each side was selected six times in 12 comparisons. No side leads on this dimension; the other dimension is read separately.
Both sides of this comparison
- This dimension compares which arrangements you selected more often: shared participation, timely sharing and updates, or separate rhythms, personal space and handling matters independently.
- Contact and shared participation: wanting regular contact, making arrangements together and sharing important updates.
- Autonomy and personal space: wanting time to process things, individual interests and room to handle matters independently.
- These options include wanting to share something new from daily life soon.
- Weekend, travel and holiday situations include planning the main itinerary together.
- Other options concern involving a partner in decisions and continuing to share updates during change.
- The bank also uses company and conversation in situations involving stress or the end of a day.
- These options include taking time to process daily news before sharing it.
- Weekend and travel items include periods for separate activities.
- Other items describe forming your own thoughts first and recovering through time alone in decision and stress situations.
- When an arrangement has an open space, an option leaves it as personal space.
Why 6:6 remains a tie
- The dimension has 12 paired items. Each chosen side receives one count and the two counts always sum to 12. Compare only the two sides; the counts are not percentiles, intensity or accuracy.
- A 6:6 tie means the two sides were selected equally often across these 12 items. Both remain without a forced leader. The totals cannot establish why: whether circumstances changed, both needs mattered, or another explanation applies needs a separate concrete example.
What unequal counts would mean
- More left-side choices, such as 7:5, mean you selected shared participation and updates relatively more often in these 12 items. The actual arrangements still need to be checked against your experience.
- More right-side choices, such as 5:7, mean you selected personal space and independent handling relatively more often in these 12 items. This does not establish coldness or avoidance.
Questions for an actual situation
- Over the past week, roughly when did you initiate contact and when did you initiate space?
- When the other person’s circumstances changed, did your comfortable contact frequency change?
- Which items might you answer differently in another attempt, and why?
- The side selected less often is not a missing capacity, defect or an arrangement you cannot use. It was selected less often in this attempt.
Read the other dimension separately
- This dimension is counted and read separately from certainty and flexibility. Shared participation can accompany more flexible planning, or any other pattern, without forming a fixed type. Separate scoring does not establish statistical independence.
- This dimension does not measure depth of love, investment or relationship quality, predict duration, or establish who is more dependent or independent.
A fictional example, counterexample and private exercise
- A fictional weekend could include a shared meal and separate activities. Those details might be acceptable to both people, to one person or to neither; a 6:6 count cannot decide. It also cannot establish that this combination describes the answers you gave. To understand an actual preference, first ask what information, time and decisions each person would want shared in that particular weekend.
- “Six each means I have found the perfect balance” adds a quality judgment. “A tie means I have no preference” adds another unsupported conclusion. Different answer patterns can share the same counts, and a concrete situation can still have a clear priority.
- Write two private fictional proposals for the same weekend, one with more joint activity and one with more separate time. Under each, note one unknown about willingness or timing. Leave the comparison open. The purpose is to compare arrangements rather than assign yourself a combined personality.
A tie does not assign a person
- This is an equal count within one dimension of an original 24-item bank, not perfect balance, a measure of either ability or a combined relationship type. Context and willingness need their own information. The bank has not completed psychometric validation, representative norms or cross-language equivalence testing.
- The result does not judge affection, maturity, attachment or partner fit, predict a relationship, or decide commitment, cohabitation, marriage or separation. You can read the guide without disclosing answers or taking any action.
