RSES public-domain items · Raw total and full guide free
Take the 10-item Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. Get your 0–30 raw total and full guide, free. Original English; a clearly labelled Chinese working translation.
10 questions · about 2 minutes · no signup
Rate the ten statements about your general feelings towards yourself: strongly agree, agree, disagree or strongly disagree. There is no fixed numerical recall period or timer. An optional unscored prefer-not-to-answer control is separate from those four scale anchors. All ten scale responses are needed for a total; any skip gives an insufficient-information report and the same complete guide. Two minutes is an editorial estimate. You may exit or clear at any time.

This edition uses the ten public-domain English RSES statements in the exact item order displayed by the University of Maryland, with a new FermatMind Chinese working translation. Five items are reverse-keyed before summing a 0–30 total. The scale concerns reported global self-regard, not tested competence, accurate self-knowledge or a personal value judgement. There are no high/low cutoffs, population ranks, diagnostic conclusions or hiring recommendations. The original scale’s research history does not establish validity or cross-language equivalence for this website’s Chinese wording. One complete public guide covers every possible total, mixed answers and insufficient information.
Using UMD’s displayed order, items 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7 score strongly agree through strongly disagree as 3, 2, 1 and 0; items 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10 score 0, 1, 2 and 3. Ten valid scale responses give an integer total from 0 to 30. Optional skip is not a scale anchor; any skip withholds the total without filling or prorating.
A higher raw total reflects more positive reported self-regard on these statements. This edition has no matched population norms, high/low cutoffs, percentiles, diagnoses or hiring bands. All 31 possible integer totals and every insufficient-information report receive the same full guide; zero and missing information remain distinct.
Morris Rosenberg’s English items are reproduced under UMD’s current public-domain notice allowing attributed translations/adaptations. The Chinese wording is newly translated by FermatMind and has not been psychometrically validated. References establish the source and scoring, not this website’s cross-language equivalence.
One complete public guide covers the 0–30 raw-total continuum, different response patterns and insufficient information. All ten scale responses are required for a total. No universal normal range, bands or personality types are applied. English items are public domain; Chinese is a new FermatMind working translation without established validity or cross-language equivalence. Public pages contain no personal answers or scores; read before deciding whether to answer.
Understand the RSES 0–30 total, reverse keys, skipped answers and interpretation limits. A complete public guide, without universal high/low bands.
The UMD displayed ten-item order, four scored anchors and 0–3 contributions: positive items 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7; reverse items 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10; total 0–30. It is not a reordered version, 10–40 coding or an invented five-point scale.
It describes reported global self-regard on these items. No universal normal range, high/low type, percentile, diagnosis or human-worth rating is assigned. Every possible total receives one full interpretation guide.
No. The original English follows UMD; Chinese is a new FermatMind working translation permitted by the public-domain notice. Its psychometric performance and cross-language equivalence have not been established here.
Prefer not to answer is an optional website non-response, not a fifth scale anchor. Any skip withholds the total and shows how many items were rated. No imputation or prorating is used, and the complete guide stays available.
All ten items, the raw total when complete and the full guide are free without signup or email. You may exit, clear or retake. This is adult self-reflection, not a clinical assessment or a substitute for appropriate support.
An explicit opt-in saves progress in this browser tab for 24 hours using this edition; completion, clear or retake removes it. Sharing copies the public title and URL only, without answers, the raw total or a private report.
University of Maryland item and scoring notices supply this edition’s English source and reverse keys. Chinese is a website working translation without established validity or cross-language equivalence. The raw total is not a diagnosis, personal worth or population rank.
