When reading MBTI-style results, don't just look at the four-letter code and type profile. A more reliable approach is: first understand what each dimension—E/I, S/N, T/F, J/P—specifically describes as a preference, then examine evidence, counterexamples, and contextual variations across real-life situations, and finally form a "current working assumption that best fits my experience." The results can help with self-reflection and communication, but they do not indicate ability, health, career outcomes, or an unchanging identity.
Type codes appear to be a complete answer, but in reality they consolidate four sets of preferences together:

These dimensions do not equate to social skills, intelligence, rationality level, emotional intensity, or degree of self-discipline. Both approaches are necessary. Relying solely on facts might miss direction, while focusing only on possibilities might overlook practical constraints. Do not judge S or N based on imagination or creative work—engineers need to explore possibilities, and artistic work requires concrete details.
Verification exercise: Choose the same job posting or news article and write separately a "list of known facts" and a "list of possible interpretations." Which side feels more natural? Which is more likely to be overlooked?
T/F is not an opposition between "logical" and "feeling." Everyone uses both logic and values; the difference lies more in the order of priority.
Recall a real-time disagreement:
People leaning toward T may still deeply value relationships—they simply prefer to express concern through problem-solving. People leaning toward F can also be rigorously analytical, merely viewing human impact as part of the decision facts. The most useful outcome isn't confirming "which side I am on," but rather recognizing where and when you need to supplement your evaluation with another kind of check.
J/P describes a more comfortable organizational approach when facing external tasks, which does not equate to a moral evaluation.
The same person might be highly planned in the workplace while being very flexible during travel. When evaluating, ask: Is this my natural preference, or is it driven by role, anxiety, deadlines, or demands from others?
Small experiment: For similar tasks, compare quality, pressure, and rework between "locking in a plan early" and "retaining two checkpoints before deciding," rather than simply comparing whether tasks were completed on time.
Use the "evidence–counter-evidence–tentative conclusion" table:

If a portrait applies almost universally to everyone, such as "you sometimes want to socialize and sometimes prefer solitude," it provides insufficient discriminative power. High-quality interpretation should identify conditions, costs, and verifiable behaviors.
If a preference in one dimension is weak or results fluctuate, there's no need to force yourself to choose a "more authentic" letter. Uncertainty can be retained:
In work discussions I'm more like E, when recovering energy I'm more like I. Current evidence does not justify fixing myself to one side.
Do not retake the assessment immediately just to obtain a preferred result. Wait for a period of time, record responses across different contexts, then compare the stable patterns. Changes in state do not necessarily indicate that the assessment is completely invalid, nor do they prove the existence of a hidden true type that must be discovered.
After completing four verification cycles, write a personal narrative using the following template:
In [specific context], I typically begin by entering the situation through [information/interaction preference], then verify it with [decision preference], and finally act through [plan or exploration approach]. This sequence is helpful under [conditions], but may lead to [cost] in [pressure or counterexample context]. The next step will be to test this through [a behavioral experiment].
This is closer to real-life experience than "I'm an INFJ, so I..." and leaves room for change.
You may invite someone familiar with your different contexts to read your draft narrative and simply ask about specific behaviors: "In which situations do you see me doing this?" "Are there any counterexamples?" Do not ask "What kind of person do you think I am," because the respondent may also be influenced by role impressions and online stereotypes.
If observations differ, first verify the context. For example, you might retain flexibility at home but maintain strict planning in work due to responsibilities; friends perceive you in the context of relationships, while colleagues see you in the context of tasks. Such differences may indicate that behavior is situational, and it's unnecessary to force a single, correct observer to validate your actions.
Opinions from others serve as supplementary evidence, not a verdict on identity. No one should publicly disclose your type without your consent, nor should anyone use outcomes to explain every decision you've made.
