Mood and interest after childbirth
Read the complete original public topic without answering. Every visitor sees the same explanation, with no personal choices, birth or child information, counts or diagnosis.
Six separate recollection-match counts add to four descriptions. Unscored stays distinct from does not match. No frequency, symptom count, total, mean, risk tier, parenting judgement or clinical inference.
Describe feelings without an expected reaction to birth
- Four original descriptions concern feeling lower than usual, something becoming less appealing, less enjoyment during a familiar activity and emotional flatness during an ordinary part of the day. They refer to the past four weeks within the after-childbirth context you choose. They do not decide how you should feel about giving birth, a baby, another person or your life.
- Recognising one description does not establish a diagnosis, a cause or a failure to feel something expected. The page cannot observe an activity, know your history or distinguish every circumstance that might matter. You can retain a feeling without explaining it as hormones, tiredness, personal weakness or a judgement about whether you are a good parent.
Recollection matches do not become a depression score
- Choose does not match my recollection, matches slightly, partly, mostly, closely or unscored for each original description. The labels concern how it fits your remembered experience. They are not event frequency, symptom intensity or an amount of impact. Six separate counts add to four descriptions per topic and retain each choice; IDs carry no points, total, average, rank or winning theme.
- Two partly matches, one closely matches and one unscored in a fictional account remain those separate counts. They do not identify postpartum depression, determine care needs or judge parenting. These four overlapping editorial topics are not validated independent dimensions. Unscored stays distinct from does not match and never supplies a zero. A small or unscored record does not establish health or safety.
Interest, opportunity and enjoyment are different
- Imagine remembering that a familiar activity felt less appealing while the opportunity to do it had also changed. The record cannot decide whether the interest, the opportunity or another circumstance explains the experience. You might still enjoy part of an activity once it begins or be unsure what to recall. Separate descriptions leave those differences visible without requiring them to agree.
- No description measures your feelings toward a baby, attachment, bonding or ability to care for someone. It does not ask you to interact with a child, repeat an activity or revisit a birth experience to test enjoyment. A relevant concern may sit outside every statement. You can leave information unscored without proving a loss of pleasure or disclosing an event.
The context supplements existing mood coverage
- The separate recent-mood page and public clinical question pack already cover general mood and interest themes. This after-childbirth record does not make them a new construct or extend a clinical scale. It keeps a particular self-report context and its own recollection-match labels. No answers or numbers transfer between forms, and their records cannot be combined or compared as equivalent measurements.
- It is not a partner, caregiver or observer questionnaire. An adult reading on someone else’s behalf can read the public guides but cannot infer that person’s feelings from these descriptions. The four groups are overlapping editorial topics, not seven validated postpartum domains or a model of identity. A professional can consider wider history and circumstances that the page does not ask about.
An optional after-childbirth context, without a medical time rule
- This self-recollection is for an adult who has given birth and chooses this context. Recall the past four weeks if you want; this is an editorial window, not a diagnostic postpartum interval or waiting period. No birth date, pregnancy history, child information or free-text account is entered. It does not assume a gender, parent identity, a living baby, a child at home or a particular caring role.
- No relevant experience, unclear recall or withholding can stay unscored, including every description. Do not reconstruct a difficult event or search for evidence to make an answer possible. A later difference may reflect memory, opportunities or circumstances rather than improvement, deterioration or treatment response. There is no preferred category, target count or repeat schedule, and no interpretation is invented for missing information.
Support does not require waiting or proving a parent role
- You can ask a qualified healthcare or mental-health professional about a concern without finishing, reaching a count or waiting two weeks. Keep existing care, advice, monitoring and support independent. Do not use a record to postpone assessment, change medicine or cancel support. The website cannot assess healthcare need, urgency, your safety or another person’s safety, and it does not replace existing professional advice.
- This is not EPDS, PHQ-9 or a clinical screen. No norms, validated thresholds or bilingual measurement equivalence have been established. NIMH provides broader perinatal-depression background, which includes contexts beyond this after-childbirth page; it supplies none of these original items or validation. Not asking about self-harm does not establish anyone’s safety. In immediate danger or if you cannot stay safe, seek local emergency assistance; the page cannot monitor or respond to an emergency.
Keep an optional description without an activity prescription
- If you want a conversation, you could describe an ordinary experience, what felt different from usual and what you would like help understanding. You choose the detail and audience. No activity, sleep change, feeding plan, mood exercise or effort to produce a particular feeling is assigned. You do not need to finish a record, describe a birth or adopt a parent label before asking for support.
- Choices remain in current-page memory without drafts, submission, questionnaire analytics or a personal result address. Exit, retake, reload and leaving clear them. Copying shares only the public title and entry. All four full guides are the same public text before answers and for every record, including all-unscored. Reading and support never require enjoyment, a diagnosis or proof of being a particular kind of parent.
