Experience of self — Complete Experience Guide
These descriptions concern feeling like an observer, an unfamiliar voice, an automatic-feeling action, distance from a named emotion and less connection with bodily sensations. They record how a moment felt. They do not state that you left your body, became another person or lacked a real self.
Five descriptions retain six category counts without a clinical score, identity inference or causal conclusion.
A felt distance is not an identity finding
- These descriptions concern feeling like an observer, an unfamiliar voice, an automatic-feeling action, distance from a named emotion and less connection with bodily sensations. They record how a moment felt. They do not state that you left your body, became another person or lacked a real self.
- A description of felt distance cannot identify depersonalisation, dissociative identity disorder or a cause. It is also different from rating the strength of an emotion. You do not need to inspect a mirror, listen repeatedly to your voice or check your body to decide whether the prompt happened.
Five descriptions, six labels
- Six category counts add to five selected descriptions. They do not count incidents, minutes, symptoms or a percentage of your life. IDs are not points. There is no total, mean, highest topic, cutoff, diagnosis or risk category.
- One often, one sometimes and three unscored remain those five choices. No opportunity, unclear recall and withholding stay distinct from did not notice on relevant occasions. A fully unscored topic gives no finding. Few labels cannot exclude a concern, and frequent labels cannot establish a disorder or its cause.
A fictional example with limits
- Imagine a fictional adult recalling a routine conversation in which their own voice felt unfamiliar. They still know that they were speaking. The record can retain that experience without explaining its cause or turning it into an identity claim. If they cannot recall a relevant moment, it can stay unscored.
- The example is not an expected answer, evidence about you or a task to repeat. A later difference can reflect opportunity, interpretation or recollection. It cannot establish recovery, deterioration, memory recovery or treatment response.
Original descriptions with a bounded purpose
- These twenty bilingual descriptions and four overlapping editorial topics are original and unvalidated. They are not the Dissociative Experiences Scale, DES-II or a screening instrument for dissociative identity disorder. The four-week window is editorial, with no norms, clinical thresholds or established language equivalence.
- Related feelings, attention and trauma-response pages keep their own questions and methods. An overlapping word does not make their scores interchangeable or explain this record. Nothing here verifies a trauma history, hidden identity, external reality or a neurological or psychiatric cause.
An optional way to describe the concern
- If you want a private note, you can distinguish the ordinary activity, the felt distance and whether you wanted support. No detailed personal history is needed. Do not repeat an uncomfortable sensation or use a count to decide whether your experience is real or deserves attention.
- You can leave any suggestion aside and read without doing an exercise. No result requires a changed behaviour, disclosure of private details or proof that you can control an experience. A practical need deserves attention on its own terms, without a questionnaire threshold.
Support, stopping and privacy
- If experiences are new, distressing or affecting everyday life, you can discuss them with a qualified healthcare professional without completing this page or reaching a count. The page cannot assess causes, medical need or urgency. Do not delay care or change treatment because of a record. If immediate danger is present or you cannot stay safe, seek appropriate local emergency assistance rather than continuing.
- All full guides and support information remain public for every answer pattern. Answers stay in current-page memory, without drafts, submission, questionnaire analytics or a private result address. Exit, refresh, leaving and retake clear them. Copying includes only the public title and entry, without selections, counts or a personal history.
