Conversations and contact
Read the full original topic explanation without answers, scores or a diagnostic label. This public text is the same for every reader.
Six category counts add to five descriptions. Individual labels remain visible; unscored stays separate from did not notice. No total, average, ranking, risk band or confidence conclusion.
Recall a conversation you wanted to have
- These five original adult observations concern worrying about what to say, monitoring how you appear during a conversation, finding it hard to begin a question, feeling tense when joining a discussion and worrying about something you said afterwards. Recall only experiences from the past four weeks if you choose. No conversation is required now. The descriptions do not measure communication ability, warmth, confidence or how well another person understood you. They cannot identify social anxiety disorder, a personality trait or the reason contact felt difficult.
- A brief question, a familiar conversation and a discussion involving power or private information can be very different experiences. The website cannot inspect their demands, know whether you felt safe or judge what participation was appropriate. You can describe hesitation without deciding that you lack social skills or should become more outgoing. A concern about someone else's reaction does not establish what that reaction was or would have been. Your recollection can remain specific without becoming a judgement about your ability to connect with people.
Five descriptions without a conversation grade
- Select did not notice, rarely, sometimes, often, very often or unscored. These are labels without numerical points. Their six counts add to five descriptions in this topic, and the individual categories remain visible. There is no total, mean, highest topic, confidence level, risk band or diagnosis. Counts do not measure the number of difficult conversations, words spoken, social errors or minutes of discomfort. Often worrying about a comment does not show that the comment was inappropriate, and a small count does not establish that contact was easy or safe.
- Unscored is available for no relevant experience, unclear recall or withholding an answer. It remains separate from did not notice. Having no recent conversation to recall is not evidence of either social ease or avoidance. You do not need to call someone, open a message, join a discussion or ask a personal question to fill a category. A fully unscored topic leaves the same guide and support information available. There is no requirement to supply an example, identify another person or explain why you chose not to answer.
Keep an account at the level you remember
- A bounded description could be that you wanted to ask for clarification but felt worried about beginning. That account separates a practical intention from a remembered difficulty. It does not determine why the difficulty occurred, whether the other person was approachable or what would have happened if you had asked. The website cannot provide those missing facts. You may keep the description this limited and leave private details out, rather than building a general story that you cannot communicate or that other people always judge you.
- After a conversation, you may remember replaying a phrase with concern about how it sounded. That concern does not prove a mistake, rejection or a misunderstanding. It also cannot prove that nothing harmful happened. This page does not determine another person's intentions or tell you to disregard harassment, discrimination or a real safety concern. You are not asked to check messages, obtain reassurance or recreate the contact. A useful question can stay open without the website choosing which interpretation of the conversation is correct.
A social context is not a personality assignment
- The record does not determine introversion, extroversion, friendliness, empathy or whether you are good at relationships. It also cannot confirm or exclude a clinical condition from a conversation-related category. The four topics are overlapping editorial groupings rather than validated independent dimensions, a published scale or diagnostic criteria. No comparison with a reference group is available. A preference for a particular kind of contact is not something this page can grade, and choosing how much to share does not need a diagnosis to be respected.
- Language, communication conventions, familiarity and the purpose of contact can differ. The English and Chinese descriptions have no established measurement equivalence or clinical norms. They cannot provide a fair cross-language social-skill score. Linked NIMH and NHS background describes broader professional assessment and support, not validation of these original statements or endorsement of their groupings. A formal assessment and its conclusions remain separate from this page, which has no observer, standardised interaction or information about another person's response.
The guide assigns no contact or exposure task
- You do not need to begin a conversation, make eye contact, speak to a stranger or return to an uncomfortable setting to answer. There is no exposure exercise, breathing technique, reassurance task or practice schedule. Do not remove useful support or existing safety boundaries to make a recollection more revealing. The website cannot decide whether a person is safe to approach or whether an interaction should happen. You may read, leave a statement unscored or stop without having to demonstrate confidence or willingness to participate.
- If you want a practical conversation about support, an optional topic could be what communication options are available in a particular setting. You may choose what to ask and what to disclose, and you do not need to share private messages or identify another person. These are possible discussion points, not a treatment plan or a promise of a helpful outcome. A category does not determine formal rights, eligibility, work suitability or whether someone else should make a decision for you.
Support does not require finishing or waiting
- You can ask a qualified healthcare or mental-health professional about a concern without a count, proof of impairment, six months of symptoms or a completed record. The four-week recall window is editorial, not a diagnostic duration or a waiting rule. You may ask while you are unsure what happened or how to describe it. The page cannot decide that your concern is too small, require you to communicate successfully first or identify a clinical explanation from these categories. Support information remains public for every possible record.
- Keep existing advice, care and safety support independent of the page. It cannot establish that a physical sensation is harmless or only anxiety, assess healthcare need or urgency, or explain away a new or changing health concern. Do not use the record to postpone assessment, cancel support, change medication or disregard danger. If there is immediate danger or you cannot stay safe, seek local emergency assistance instead of continuing. You do not need to complete another conversation, gain reassurance or select a different category before asking for help.
Keep a useful phrase without a progress score
- There is no score to improve, preferred category or schedule for repeating the observations. Later selections may reflect different people, situations, safety conditions, opportunities, recollections or interpretations of a statement. They do not demonstrate recovery, deterioration, treatment response or a change in communication ability, confidence or personality. A useful phrase may simply describe where contact felt difficult while leaving causes and future choices open. The record cannot decide whether a relationship is healthy or predict how a future conversation will go.
- Selections remain in current-page memory only: no saved drafts, submission, questionnaire analytics or private result URL. Exit, retake, reload and leaving clear the record. Copying the public entry shares only a title and address, not your categories. All four complete guides are public before answers and display the same text to every reader. You can read without answering, withhold an experience or stop when you have found a useful question. A professional conversation does not need a diagnostic label or a social-performance verdict from this website.
