Initiative and persuasion tasks
Explore interest in initiative and persuasion tasks through concrete examples, a private small trial, raw-mean calculations and clear boundaries.
Liking for this selected task set, read with rated coverage; no ability, rank or job match.
Interest in moving a proposal forward
- This group asks about proposing, persuading, negotiating and coordinating an agreed action. Ten tasks include a sponsorship pitch, a pilot proposal, volunteer recruitment and revising an arrangement after discussing responsibilities. Rate whether you would like doing the activity with reasonable training and support. The mean does not establish leadership effectiveness, business skill, confidence, dominance, honesty or the likelihood that anyone would accept a proposal.
- E is an organizing label for these original examples, not a validated Enterprising score. The activities can happen in a community project as well as a business. Interest in explaining a proposal does not require wanting authority over people or enjoying financial risk. Someone may prefer a small team and a clear brief while disliking open-ended competition or repeated public presentations.
Consider a proposal and its objections
- Imagine asking a group to try a neighborhood event. You explain its purpose, hear concerns about dates and responsibilities, and revise the plan. Which part interests you: forming the case, inviting participation, responding to objections or reaching a workable agreement? A rating does not reveal which reason mattered. It also cannot show whether the final agreement would be fair, informed or successful.
- A lower rating can concern repeated rejection, an unfamiliar topic or the setting rather than initiative in general. A higher rating might reflect enjoyment of a prepared discussion rather than a desire to sell under pressure. Notice the imagined conditions before treating the mean as a career direction. Real projects include follow-through and accountability after the exciting presentation is over.
Persuasion is not permission or proof
- Enjoying a pitch does not establish that its claims are accurate, that you can deliver it or that another person should agree. An ethical real proposal still needs evidence, clear commitments and room for refusal. This questionnaire supplies no authority to pressure someone. It does not assess negotiation skill or tell whether you are ready to manage a budget, team or regulated activity.
- You may want to learn an activity that you have never tried, or be skilled at one you no longer enjoy. Both are compatible with the instructions. Choose unscored if you cannot form an interest judgment; do not substitute a guess about ability. Neutral remains a valid numeric midpoint. No response indicates greater worth, ambition or employability than another response.
Separate explaining a case from helping and creating
- A project pitch can include creating slides, teaching background information, checking costs and inviting a decision. You may enjoy only some of those stages. The questionnaire separates selected task sets but does not claim that real jobs divide neatly into six boxes. Consider which purpose draws you: helping someone learn, expressing an idea, keeping records or obtaining agreement for a next action.
- Six means remain in a fixed order rather than a competitive ranking. There is no strongest trait, three-letter code or employer recommendation. The core RIASEC route is the main option for a broader interest profile. This supplement keeps its own form identity and does not transfer ratings, override a core result or convert a preference for persuasion into evidence of management potential.
Try a reversible proposal
- Choose a low-stakes fictional or voluntary project. Prepare a short proposal with a purpose, a limited commitment and an explicit way to decline. Ask a willing peer what remains unclear rather than trying to secure agreement at all costs. Afterwards, note whether you enjoyed preparation, questions, revision or coordinating a next step. The exercise should not involve real financial commitments or pressure on someone else.
- Include the less visible work in your reflection: checking claims, documenting decisions, following up and accepting a refusal. If only the presentation appealed, that is useful detail rather than a failure. A brief exercise cannot predict how you would feel about repeated targets or responsibility over time. You may prefer occasional project coordination, a support role or no further trial, without needing a label.
Read the raw numbers with their coverage
- Each group has ten activities with the same 1–5 interest anchors and no reverse items. All sixty prompts need a response before a result appears; the unscored option counts as a response but not a rating. A group needs at least eight numeric ratings for a displayed mean. For example, ratings 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5 and two unscored responses give sum 27, eight ratings and displayed mean 3.4. Seven ratings keep that group insufficient, regardless of their values.
- The original sum and rated count remain visible beside the mean, rounded to one decimal. Missing ratings are not zero and are not made neutral. The minimum-eight rule is a website coverage convention, not a validated threshold. A higher mean records more liking for the rated tasks in this set; a lower mean records less. Different answers, including strongly mixed ones, can yield the same average. No total, percentile, level or prediction follows from it.
Version, privacy and your next choice
- FermatMind independently wrote this sixty-task bank and its English and Chinese text. Reliability, validity, norms and cross-language measurement equivalence have not been established. It does not reproduce an official O*NET Interest Profiler form or inherit the evidence for a published instrument. The official profiler and the FermatMind core RIASEC forms are distinct products. Keep this supplement’s version and task wording with any private notes rather than treating familiar letters as proof of identical measurement.
- All six complete guides are public before any answers and remain the same for every response pattern, including all unscored. Answers are calculated on this page. Only an explicit choice saves a tab draft for up to 24 hours; completion, retake or exit-and-clear removes it. Sharing copies only the public title and entry link, without ratings or means. You can stop, read another guide or visit the core assessment without transferring answers. No payment, registration or desired score is required for these guides.
