Bring a defined unit of work to a usable stopping point.
This topic concerns completing a defined piece, not being a harder worker or more conscientious person. A count cannot tell whether the target was useful, realistic or chosen freely.
Difference = Most selections minus Least selections, from −8 to +8 for this topic. Every complete attempt has sixteen Most and sixteen Least selections across all eight topics, so their differences always sum to zero.
What this topic records
- This topic concerns completing a defined piece, not being a harder worker or more conscientious person. A count cannot tell whether the target was useful, realistic or chosen freely.
- Each topic appears in eight blocks, twice in each option position. This gives the same number of opportunities to select it, without establishing equal difficulty, desirability or measurement validity.
A concrete example
- A finished step might be one checked paragraph rather than the entire report. Naming its boundary lets a collaborator understand what can already be used.
- Ask whether that example fits your current circumstances. School, paid work and unpaid projects can offer different opportunities; the exercise does not adjust for those differences.
When Most is selected more often
- More Most choices may indicate that reaching a usable stopping point felt particularly familiar beside other actions. They do not prove productivity or predict performance on a job.
- The Most count is the number of its eight appearances selected as Most. It is not the frequency with which you performed this action outside the exercise.
When Least is selected more often
- More Least choices can occur when discovery, interruptions or changing requirements prevent clean stopping points. Review the situation before treating the count as a personal limitation.
- Least means less characteristic relative to the other three statements in that block. It does not mean that you never do the action, dislike it or lack the ability.
A useful trade-off to consider
- Finishing the wrong step can create rework. Check that its purpose still holds, and distinguish a useful pause from abandoning an obligation that another person relies on.
- Keep both counts visible. Four Most and four Least choices produce the same zero difference as zero and zero, while describing a different pattern of selections.
One optional next step
- Define one small done condition before starting, then review whether it helped. If the condition changes, tell the affected person rather than chasing completion for its own sake.
- There is no target score to reach. Repeating the exercise may change the counts as your context or interpretation changes; it is not evidence that your personality has improved.
