A reversed statement does not set a timetable for grief
Read eight CTL-I 2018 loss and mourning statements, all reverse-keyed, with an exact example and clear limits around grief, rejection, jealousy and moving forward.
All eight items use 5−x. The keyed sum is 8–32 and mean is 1–4, without a recovery deadline, diagnosis or an obligation to start another relationship.
Eight source statements, several kinds of experience
The source’s loss-and-mourning domain includes difficulty accepting unreturned love, blame after a relationship ends, wishes for revenge when rejected, unwillingness to accept an ending, jealousy, guilt, devaluation of oneself after abandonment and difficulty moving forward. These are not interchangeable experiences. Some are thoughts or feelings and others refer to a situation. The form does not observe actions, the reason a relationship ended or how long anyone has been grieving. A single group mean cannot supply those missing facts.
All eight reverse keys in one example
For raw responses 4, 3, 2, 1, 4, 3, 2 and 1, applying 5−x gives 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3 and 4. The keyed sum is 20 and the mean is 20/8 = 2.50. No item is removed and the mean is not combined with other domains. A greater keyed mean means less endorsement of these particular source statements in this attempt; it does not certify recovery, maturity, emotional health or an absence of future difficulty.
Name a feeling without creating a demand
A private note might say: “This ending still hurts. I do not know when that will change, and I can choose not to contact this person.” It keeps feeling and action separate. A counterexample is using a score to demand that a former partner provide closure, resume contact or respond to love. Another person’s refusal remains theirs. Nor does the page require you to stop feeling sadness or start a new relationship to produce a more favourable keyed number.
No normal grief speed or character verdict
There is no grief deadline, clinical cutoff, population percentile or recovery stage assigned here. Difficulty moving forward does not specify that a person should seek a new partner, and the 2018 English item is retained without that added meaning. Jealousy, guilt and self-critical feelings may have different contexts. Endorsing a thought is not proof of acting on it, while a low endorsement does not establish safety. The form cannot diagnose a disorder, certify nonviolence or judge the reality of a loss.
An ending has context the items cannot recover
The time since a loss, whether separation was wanted, practical dependence, safety, support and past experience can affect what someone recalls. This inventory does not separate those influences. Mourning may change unevenly and need not follow the order of these statements. A comparison with a previous attempt has no established meaningful-change threshold. The eight-item domain is also not equivalent to the site’s original three-part jealousy reflection; its broad jealousy statement cannot be converted to those separate thought, discomfort and action means.
Stopping does not imply an inability to accept loss
The source’s four numeric choices provide no NA, and all forty-one valid responses are required for any personal domain result. If an item is irrelevant, distressing, impossible to judge or something you do not want to answer, you may stop and read every full public guide. No experience should be replaced with a low response or an invented middle choice. An incomplete attempt does not create an interpretation about avoidance, courage, the depth of grief or an inability to love.
Licensed source wording, limited web interpretation
English reproduces Kapusta et al. (2018), Table 1, under CC BY 4.0 with attribution; Chinese and the full readings are new FermatMind adaptations. The original German and Polish research does not validate this English display, Chinese translation or online conclusions. This domain does not become a clinical loss assessment because it uses source items. No local norms, language equivalence, diagnosis, relationship-outcome prediction or overall capacity-to-love grade is provided. The current author-site revised wording is not silently substituted.
Choose a small step without a deadline
You may finish here or privately choose one source of support or one practical task you want to consider, without promising to feel differently. No contact, forgiveness, reconciliation, disclosure or new relationship is required. If a discussion or contact would feel unsafe, you can decline it. The test does not decide what support is appropriate or replace your judgement about safety. Sharing uses only a general public title and URL, never your grief-related responses, raw sum or mean.
