Two general statements do not measure your sexual functioning
Read the two CTL-I 2018 PSP statements as general claims about boredom and desire over time, with both reverse keys and explicit orientation and consent boundaries.
Both items 32 and 33 use 5−x. Their keyed sum is 2–8 and mean is 1–4. This arithmetic is not a measure of personal desire, sexual functioning or love.
Notice that both prompts are general statements
The source labels this domain permanence of sexual passion. Item 32 says that sexual boredom arises in long-term relationships; item 33 says sexual desire diminishes over time. They are general statements, not questions about the frequency or quality of your own sexual experiences. Both are reverse-keyed. Their endorsement can reflect beliefs, expectations or how a generalisation was understood. The wording does not justify interpreting the resulting mean as a direct observation of your desire or your partner’s experience.
Two reversed responses, step by step
For raw choices 1 and 3, reverse each with 5 minus the choice: 5−1 = 4 and 5−3 = 2. The keyed sum is 6 and the mean is 6/2 = 3.00. A greater keyed value corresponds to less endorsement of the two general claims, not to a required level of sexual passion. The website does not combine this mean with the five other domains, assign a normal range or compare it with a person’s actual sexual frequency.
Discuss a belief without requiring an experience
You might privately notice that your answer reflects an expectation about long relationships rather than a recent event. If a safe, wanted conversation would be useful, a possible question is: “Do we mean the same thing by attraction, and do we even want to discuss it?” A counterexample is demanding sexual contact to raise a score. A general statement and its mathematical reversal never create consent, prescribe sex or establish an obligation to satisfy another person’s expectations.
Protect the difference between a key and a judgement
Asexuality, low or changing desire, disability, choosing not to have sex and a preference for less physical contact are not defects established by this form. A lower keyed mean can reflect agreement with a general observation about change; it does not establish an inability to love. A higher mean does not prove sustained desire or a satisfying sexual relationship. Preserving the original reverse keys makes the calculation traceable, but it does not resolve the gap between general beliefs and personal experiences.
Context can affect beliefs and desire differently
Age, health, medication, stress, relationship stage, culture and opportunity can influence either a general expectation or an actual experience. This two-item group does not separate those influences and is not a medical assessment. Do not use it to explain a partner’s desire or infer orientation, infidelity or relationship quality. Two different raw responses may have the same keyed sum. That equality does not make their meanings identical or give the two-item domain the same precision as a longer domain.
Read the complete guide without answering intimate topics
The source uses four numeric choices and has no NA; all forty-one valid selections are needed before personal results. If you do not want to consider these statements, exit rather than inventing an answer or treating no experience as a low value. All six full guides remain public and free. You need not disclose sexual information, involve a partner or try any physical action. No unfinished attempt creates a conclusion about orientation, desire, love or willingness to improve a relationship.
Keep the 2018 wording and adaptation distinct
The two English statements reproduce Kapusta et al. (2018), Table 1, under CC BY 4.0 with attribution; Chinese is a new working translation. This page is not the current author-site version or an independently validated online sexual assessment. The source’s German and Polish research does not establish validity of the English display, new Chinese or the interpretations here. Response endpoints from the current author site are a separately identified reference, while intermediate choices remain numeric. No norms, equivalence or cutoff is claimed.
Choose whether this topic is useful at all
You can simply finish here. If useful, privately distinguish a general belief, a current experience and something you do not know; there is no need to turn them into an action. A conversation is optional and every person may decline a topic or contact. The public link contains only general information, not your responses or mean. No result asks for sexual activity, a change in orientation, more disclosure or tolerating unwanted contact. Consent is separate from every number on the page.
