Examine pursuing aims alongside information, thinking time and choice.
Read the influence theme: information, choice, six accuracy items, missing data and examples, without manipulation-skill or personality labels.
Describes self-reported accuracy for this group’s specified practices; four numeric ratings are needed for a mean, without ranking groups.
Influence: information, intention and room to decline
This group concerns how you explain information, refer to relationships, make requests and respond to objections while pursuing an aim. Communication often influences others, but influence alone is not manipulation. The six specific items concern selective information, when intentions are explained and another person’s room to decide. They measure neither social skill, negotiation ability nor supposed mind-reading and classify no purposeful relationship automatically as exploitation. Refer to your own past three months as the sentences ask, without guessing a colleague’s or partner’s intentions or using someone’s impressions to complete an assessment for another person.
At least four of six ratings, without ranking groups
This edition has eighteen items, six per group, all direct with zero reversals. Choose a 1–5 accuracy rating or prefer not to answer for every item; eighteen selections finish an attempt. A group needs at least four numeric ratings to show its actual rated count, raw sum and two-decimal mean calculated from the unrounded sum divided by that count. Raw ranges are 4–20, 5–25 or 6–30 for four, five or six ratings. Six is not a universal denominator, and raw sums with different counts are not compared. Three means uncertain or conditional and counts numerically, not as a stable neutral frequency. Unscored preferences are excluded without zero or three substitution. Fewer than four ratings leave only that group insufficient. Other groups stay independent and all three nine-section guides remain readable. There is no total, highest type, high/low threshold or risk band. Means establish neither equal intervals, cross-group comparability nor reliable change.
What endorsements invite you to revisit
With more endorsements, revisit information, timing, time pressure and room to decline item by item rather than call the mean a degree of manipulation. Social desirability can affect these readily evaluated statements, so fewer endorsements prove no fully informed communication in every case. They certify neither honesty nor another person’s completely voluntary choice. More endorsements likewise demonstrate no effective strategy or success. Three retains uncertainty or conditionality instead of becoming moderate Machiavellianism. With only four rated items, the mean describes those four rather than establishes the other two; neither of the other groups supplies their missing information.
Making a request is not the same as narrowing a choice
Clearly explaining an aim, a reasonable deadline or a need for cooperation does not automatically match withholding information or making refusal harder. A declined request does not itself make the request wrong. Examine the practice and context described rather than judge by whether you obtained the outcome. This theme rates no negotiating skill, presents pressure as no necessary business ability and uses no self-report result to explain why another person might not trust you. The webpage has heard no actual conversation, learned no wishes from the other person and observed no outcome. It cannot replace those facts with an interpretation of a mean.
Example: requesting help with activity materials
Imagine asking someone to help organise materials for an activity. The work, expected time and what you hope to complete need explaining. One point to examine is whether important information affecting the choice was available before a decision and whether declining was possible. This is no lesson in securing agreement and imposes no duty to accept. Agreement, refusal or a proposed adjustment receives no good/bad verdict from the quiz. No actual task or conversation is entered, its workload is unknown and the website cannot certify that a particular agreement was fully voluntary simply because you selected a lower rating.
Counterexample: having a plan can coexist with complete conditions
Someone with a clear aim and detailed plan can explain conditions before requesting a decision and preserve another person’s choice. Someone without an elaborate strategy can still omit important information. Planning is therefore no evidence of Machiavellianism, and an absence of planning guarantees no absence of pressure. This counterexample returns influence to particular information and choices rather than label long-term thinking or organising resources as dark. The three means are not ranked, so this group’s tallest numerical value becomes no strongest dark trait. If all groups are insufficient, that is neither concealment nor an obligation to supply more answers.
Optional check: what remains unexplained before a decision?
If useful, take an ordinary request that can be discussed without urgency and privately identify one relevant piece of information you have not yet explained. Consider whether adding it is appropriate or whether to leave the request unmade; a reading reminder alone is enough. Contact no one for an exercise and record no actual aims, names or conversations. This check is no technique for obtaining agreement and guarantees neither relationship improvement, successful negotiation nor a changed mean. Someone may decline a request without the quiz judging that reason or asking you to continue persuading them, and you may skip the exercise altogether.
Separate an original influence theme from research scales
These six owned original items are no replacement measure for MACH-IV, SD3 or Dirty Dozen, and a three-factor research background transfers no validity to them. Research on related but distinguishable traits does not endorse this candidate’s personal scores. Concealment and pressure in the difficult-person bank and treating people as more than tools in the Light Triad concern neighbouring topics. Methods and items differ, without score conversion or a combined morality or light/dark ratio. Read each group through its own statements, rated count and limits rather than use a webpage mean to screen relationships or evaluate another person’s character or motives.
Page memory only, with all full guides free
This candidate retains the mini-program’s sensitive-topic privacy limits. Answers and personal results stay only in the current page’s memory, without browser storage, uploaded answers, quiz-flow statistics or personal-result sharing. Refreshing, changing language or leaving loses the attempt. Back edits are available while answering; exit or retake clears it. Public full text is unrelated to a private attempt. All three nine-section guides are free without email, payment or another assessment, and the website asks for no actual conflict, names or other people’s circumstances. Answer only for yourself over the past three months, never for a partner, colleague or anyone else. You may stop after reading. These explanations supply no hiring, relationship-screening, medical, forensic, security or school evaluation. A lower mean proves no safety, and a higher mean predicts no harm.
