Distinguish valuing recognition from specific priorities.
Read the recognition-and-image theme: six accuracy items, missing information, examples and limits, without narcissism or ability verdicts.
Describes self-reported accuracy for this group’s specified practices; four numeric ratings are needed for a mean, without ranking groups.
Recognition and image: examining what takes priority
This group revisits situations involving questions about your work, entering a group, someone else receiving praise and choosing tasks, asking where image, attention and recognition sit in your own practices. Caring how others see you is common. These six items ask only how accurately particular descriptions fit, rather than call all public presentation narcissism or measure self-esteem or confidence. You may recognise one item and find another inaccurate or prefer not to answer. Keep those differences at item level instead of letting a mean explain every motive, relationship or aspect of personality. The page observes no conduct beyond the answers you choose.
At least four of six ratings, without ranking groups
This edition has eighteen items, six per group, all direct with zero reversals. Choose a 1–5 accuracy rating or prefer not to answer for every item; eighteen selections finish an attempt. A group needs at least four numeric ratings to show its actual rated count, raw sum and two-decimal mean calculated from the unrounded sum divided by that count. Raw ranges are 4–20, 5–25 or 6–30 for four, five or six ratings. Six is not a universal denominator, and raw sums with different counts are not compared. Three means uncertain or conditional and counts numerically, not as a stable neutral frequency. Unscored preferences are excluded without zero or three substitution. Fewer than four ratings leave only that group insufficient. Other groups stay independent and all three nine-section guides remain readable. There is no total, highest type, high/low threshold or risk band. Means establish neither equal intervals, cross-group comparability nor reliable change.
Return to the particular endorsements
With more endorsements, you can revisit whether image protection appeared ahead of checking facts, sharing credit or less visible tasks in particular answers. That invitation is not proof of neglected responsibilities and cannot establish someone else’s experience. Fewer endorsements mean only that you less often endorsed these sentences; they certify neither humility, reliability nor absence of real problems. If many responses are three, retain their uncertainty or conditional meaning rather than invent “moderate narcissism.” Equal means can come from different items. Memory, opportunities and how a sentence is understood while answering can also affect responses without indicating a stable personal change.
Presentation, recognition needs and ability do not imply one another
Presenting work, seeking appropriate credit or explaining a misunderstanding does not automatically endorse every item. Read the actual comparison, conversational redirection, reduced disclosure of uncertainty or priority described rather than turn an appropriate explanation into a defect. Conversely, endorsing an item certifies neither leadership, charisma, ambition nor an ability to tolerate criticism. The website observes no performance and cannot turn answers into clinical narcissism, a stable trait or a personality disorder by invoking a research label. It judges no one as good or bad and provides no basis for deciding whether someone should trust you or grant you responsibility.
Example: explaining a shared activity’s outcome
Imagine writing a short account after a shared activity. One point to check is whether emphasising your contribution left out others’ work or unresolved information. Alternatively, you may simply be adding a real contribution that was previously omitted; that is a different situation. The example requires no public confession, removal of appropriate credit or guessed dissatisfaction. It places an item’s priority back among concrete facts. The test has read no actual account and knows no division of work, so it cannot decide which situation occurred or produce an evaluation of performance, reputation or the fairness of anyone’s credit.
Counterexample: valuing recognition can coexist with clear facts
Someone who wants effort to be noticed can still acknowledge others’ contributions, explain unknowns and complete less visible follow-up. Someone who rarely presents work publicly can still overlook facts in a particular interaction. Extraversion, quietness, liking praise or disliking attention therefore determines no answer to these six items. This counterexample distinguishes valuing recognition from a specified practice rather than asks you to lower answers to appear humble. The page does not compare this mean against influence or impact-distance readings to assign a dominant type, and the three groups are not pieces adding up to a complete personality or moral identity.
Optional check: one contribution and one unknown
If useful, take an ordinary, non-urgent shared arrangement and privately identify one known contribution by someone else and one fact you remain uncertain about. Consider whether your account needs an addition, or simply retain the reminder without requesting a response. Record no names, actual conflict or private circumstances, and create no criticism for an exercise. This check guarantees neither relationship improvement, increased ability nor a lower mean. A need to pause, protect privacy or decline discussion cannot be classified as image protection by this quiz. You may finish after reading without undertaking an exercise or retaking the form.
Separate this thematic candidate from narcissism instruments
Dark Triad research treats narcissism, Machiavellianism and psychopathy as related but distinguishable research traits; a name alone does not establish that an original bank measures them. This group carries forward our owned mini-program’s six recognition-and-image items without adopting SD3 or Dirty Dozen or inheriting their norms or validation. Self-importance in the difficult-person bank and conversational comparisons in interaction habits overlap with this topic, without score conversion. The Light Triad is not its reverse score either. Read neighbouring themes alongside one another if useful, without a light/dark ratio, a clinical conclusion or an assumption that a mean describes someone else.
Page memory only, with all full guides free
This candidate retains the mini-program’s sensitive-topic privacy limits. Answers and personal results stay only in the current page’s memory, without browser storage, uploaded answers, quiz-flow statistics or personal-result sharing. Refreshing, changing language or leaving loses the attempt. Back edits are available while answering; exit or retake clears it. Public full text is unrelated to a private attempt. All three nine-section guides are free without email, payment or another assessment, and the website asks for no actual conflict, names or other people’s circumstances. Answer only for yourself over the past three months, never for a partner, colleague or anyone else. You may stop after reading. These explanations supply no hiring, relationship-screening, medical, forensic, security or school evaluation. A lower mean proves no safety, and a higher mean predicts no harm.
