All four raw counts are equal in this attempt
Each of the four directions was chosen equally often across these 24 questions. This attempt therefore assigns no single leading direction.
Each of the 24 answers contributes one count. With four equal totals, every direction has six choices out of its 12 comparisons. No single leader is assigned and no question order, code or option position breaks the tie. This is neither perfect balance nor evidence that the test failed.
What each tied count comes from
- Clear Expression: Counts come from selecting statements that put observations, feelings, needs, views or arrangements into words. Here this direction has the same six choices as the other three.
- Attuned Response: Counts come from selecting listening, checking a meaning, asking about willingness or noticing what remains unheard. Here this direction has the same six choices as the other three.
- Space Regulation: Counts come from selecting adjusted contact, a slower pace, room to gather thoughts or a pause. Here this direction has the same six choices as the other three.
- Repair Engagement: Counts come from selecting a possible next step, discussing an impact or considering how to resume a discussion. Here this direction has the same six choices as the other three.
Situations to compare
- Recall one complete disagreement or important conversation. Which of the four actions actually appeared, and which did not?
- Compare moments when the other person said they had capacity with moments when they did not. Did your choices differ?
- If you want to reflect on an ordinary week, note examples of explaining, listening, space and repair privately. Counts from a journal and this questionnaire are different observations.
Decisions and timing
- Did the paired choices feel quick or difficult to choose between? Hesitation can be reflected on but was not scored.
- Were you trying to keep several needs in view recently? The equal scores cannot establish why you chose them.
Words and feedback
- What actual sequence did expression, checking, pausing and repair follow in a particular conversation?
- What word would you choose for the recent situation, and what concrete event supports it?
Pressure needs its own example
- The equal counts cannot identify which direction appears first, takes over or switches automatically under pressure. This bank did not measure a sequence or predict your reaction to stress.
- In a recent pressured moment, which action actually came first?
- Looking back, what did that action make possible, leave out or complicate?
Space and continued discussion
- During a disagreement, what did you first do rather than what does the tied label suggest?
- If none of the offered responses fitted what someone wanted, what other options or boundaries were available?
Check an actual example
- There is no need to assign yourself a label. If useful, observe ordinary actions over time rather than turn these equal scores into a claim of balance.
- You may ask a trusted person about a specific observed interaction if both want that conversation. Their account is another perspective, not a validation of the test or a required partner assessment.
Optional actions, not a required sequence
- If you want to revisit the questionnaire, choose another ordinary moment. This bank has no validated mandatory retest interval.
- Give concrete experiences priority over using choice counts to define yourself.
- Where violence, coercion or continuing harm is involved, immediate safety takes priority over a repair attempt. Equal scores never create a duty to keep contact.
Keep the questions open
- Did any direction being included in this tie surprise you?
- If you considered only concrete actions from an ordinary week, what examples would support each direction?
- Were several kinds of response relevant to the recent situation? Treat this as an open question rather than the explanation for the tie.
Read the count within its limits
- It does not establish perfect balance or being equally good at everything.
- It establishes neither four mature relationship abilities nor failure of the questionnaire.
- It reveals no other person’s feelings or opinion of you.
- It predicts neither partner fit nor relationship duration.
- Four equal counts mean no direction was selected more often in these 24 choices. They do not answer what kind of person you are. Experiences provide information that a tied count cannot supply.
- This original self-exploration bank has not completed psychometric validation. It does not assign blame for harm. Safety takes priority over repair, and no result requires continued contact.
