Keep the decimal point where it belongs
Decimal entry: full practice guide with an original worked minute, exact-entry and character denominators, editing rules, device limits and a small optional review routine.
Every complete round lasts 60 seconds. Confirmed-equivalent KPH = (characters in confirmed entries + one separator per entry) ÷ 60 × 3,600. Exact-entry KPH uses only entirely correct entries, including their separator. Backspace and discarded characters are not throughput; a confirmation button represents the same one separator as Enter, not a measured physical keypress. Entry error rate = wrong confirmed entries ÷ all confirmed entries. Positional character accuracy = matching character positions ÷ the sum of the larger source/entered length for each confirmed entry. With no confirmed entries, accuracy and error rate are unavailable.
Copy notation rather than numerical value
The decimal mode uses synthetic values written with a period and exactly two decimal places. It is a transcription task: 12.50 and 12.5 represent the same numerical quantity in some contexts, but they are different strings here. Preserve the displayed notation rather than rounding, adding a currency sign or replacing the period with a comma. The list does not represent real payments or financial records. It offers a stable source for checking which characters were actually confirmed.
A worked example with two different mistakes
For sources 12.50, 7.05 and 81.40, imagine confirming 1250, 7.50 and 81.40 in a full minute. Thirteen characters plus three separators give 960 confirmed-equivalent KPH. Only 81.40 is an exact entry, so its five characters and one separator give 360 exact-entry KPH. Two of three entries are wrong: 66.7% entry error. Nine of fourteen compared character positions match: 64.3% positional accuracy. Losing a point shifts the later positions; this positional measure does not realign the string to award edit-distance credit.
Make corrections without inflating throughput
You may edit an unconfirmed entry, including its decimal point. The final text confirmed by Enter or the on-screen confirmation button is the text scored. Deleted characters and Backspace are excluded from the KPH numerator. Pasting and dropping text are blocked; the exercise remains local practice rather than a secure examination. Finish any input-method composition before confirming. At the deadline, unfinished composition or an unconfirmed tail does not become a saved entry automatically.
Separate format errors from a personal conclusion
The review shows the expected string and confirmed text so that a missing point or a swapped digit can be checked directly. It does not infer carelessness, numerical ability or readiness to handle money. A touchscreen, number row and numeric keypad can give different experiences; browser-reported key codes are only a limited observation of input events. Compare attempts with their mode, version, device and prior exposure in mind. There is no conversion to an employer score or another site’s accuracy-adjusted KPH.
Try one notation check
For a later voluntary attempt in this mode, choose one small check such as looking at the point and the two following digits before confirming. Keep the rest of the setup similar if you want to compare the two attempts, and record that the fixed list is now familiar. Review actual rows rather than assume an improvement from one summary number. This is a possible practice routine, not a proven training intervention, financial advice or a requirement to pursue a data-entry role.

Practice scope, device and privacy
These fixed synthetic numbers, task rules and worked guides are independently authored by FermatMind for local practice. Scores describe this edition, device, mode and uninterrupted minute, with prior exposure and any assistance affecting comparability. They are not employer norms, hiring certification, an IQ measure or a prediction of job performance. Browser key codes describe reported events rather than proving a physical keypad. Inputs stay in this page’s memory, with no answer upload, saved draft, answer URL or answer analytics. Hiding the page or a detected clock discrepancy cancels and clears the round; reload starts again.
