Power Values: Status, Influence and Resource Control
Explore power values, status, resource control, relative scoring and nine comparisons. No actual authority, leadership, morality or career verdict.
Thirty original items use importance ratings from one to five, three for each classical value, with no reverse keys. Unscored responses enter neither numerator nor denominator and are never filled with zero or a midpoint. Each value needs all three ratings for a raw mean. All 30 ratings are required for your overall mean and ten relative values: the unrounded value sum divided by three minus the overall sum divided by 30. Display two decimals for relative values without rounding first. Positive, negative and zero compare with your own overall responses only; zero does not mean unimportant. Identical ratings give ten valid zero relative values rather than no values. Keep all ten full guides without ranking, a sole top identity or primary/secondary types. There are no population norms, percentiles, significant differences, accuracy claims or psychometric validation.
What this value goal describes
Power in the classical framework concerns social standing, a position influencing shared decisions and control over important resources. Three original items ask how important those goals are. This is neither a measure of actual authority nor a record of dominating, bullying or exploiting others. Someone can value decision authority without a corresponding position or resources; someone with formal authority may place little importance on status. Distinguish a valued goal, available conditions and the way authority is exercised.
A raw and relative scoring example
For example, ratings of two, three and four sum to nine with raw mean 3.0. If all 30 ratings sum to 75, the overall mean is 2.5 and the relative value +0.50. At total 105, the same 3.0 gives −0.50. Neither comparison changes actual authority or diagnoses a desire to control. A relative value locates these responses within this attempt; another person’s +0.50 establishes no equivalent social position. Equal means can also contain different item responses.
An ordinary life situation
Imagine sharing responsibility for materials used in an interest activity and wanting a clear say in allocation and timing. Establish agreed authority, ownership and practical conditions rather than concluding from a questionnaire that you should decide. Managing resources can reflect convenience, responsibility or another goal instead of valuing power. Someone valuing influence can also willingly accept rotating responsibility. Actual arrangements still require the wishes of everyone involved.
Possible wording for discussion
You might say, “I would like a clearly agreed decision scope for allocating materials; can we define what each person is responsible for?” This requests negotiable authority rather than assuming entitlement to influence. Hear the decisions others do not want to delegate and the shared rules. A score authorises neither overstepping, taking resources nor demanding compliance. If the actual wish is simply to be heard, explain the contribution without first assigning yourself a power type.
Comparing the nine other values
Achievement concerns successful performance against social standards, while power concerns standing and resource control. Self-direction involves choosing your own approach rather than deciding for others. Stimulation and hedonism concern novelty and pleasure. Security can accompany resource control; conformity concerns interpersonal restraint and tradition heritage. Benevolence concerns close others and universalism wider humanity and nature. One allocation decision can serve several goals, so the theoretical circle does not turn power and care into morally exclusive kinds of person.
Counterexamples and limits
Someone can temporarily control resources to meet shared needs without valuing status. Someone valuing influence can respect boundaries and other people. Higher ratings establish no leadership skill, ambition, earnings, exploitation, reliability or political orientation; lower ratings establish neither an absence of influence nor unsuitability for responsibility. These outcomes are unmeasured and theory research does not validate this edition’s scores. All ten guides appear together without recommending positions, partners or who should control resources.
An optional observation
For an optional observation, recall an ordinary shared arrangement and separate what you wanted to influence, what authority you actually had and how negotiation proceeded. No additional control or withdrawal from responsibility is required. If helpful, clarify one already unclear authority boundary and allow a different proposal. This review trains no leadership, reduces no diagnosed desire, promises no relationship improvement and treats neither higher nor lower power readings as superior.

Original method, theory sources and scope
FermatMind authored these 30 bilingual direct-importance items, mappings, explanations, examples and presentation for reflection on the ten classical Schwartz value goals. This is no PVQ-21 or PVQ40 portrait-similarity form, nineteen-value PVQ-RR, standard SVS, translation of those banks or official scoring instrument. No competitor bank, report body or algorithm is adopted. Author materials supply conceptual background, motivational relations and within-person priorities, not validation of these items, ten factors, an individual circle, language equivalence or any personal interpretation. Standard-instrument commercial terms were not established in this task and are not inferred from an article licence. Results judge no actual behaviour, ability, health, morality, political or religious membership, hiring, career fit or compatibility and apply no age, cultural or gender pattern to an individual. No value is prescribed as a target to raise or suppress.
