Keep units and operations attached to the numbers.
Review totals, incoming and outgoing stock, packs and line values. Worked arithmetic exposes the exact discrepancy; the score is not accounting certification or mathematical aptitude.
This section has six tasks. The result is the number answered correctly out of six; all tasks weigh one point. This is an item-set result, not a percentile or a fixed ability band.
Six short reconciliations
This section uses addition, increases and decreases, pack-to-item conversion, an incorrect displayed total, two line values and removing two non-overlapping groups. All quantities and unit relationships are supplied. The task is to check the stated record, not to remember tax rules, accounting standards or a currency conversion.
Calculate before trusting the printed total
If a sheet lists two bundles of seven labels and four loose labels, the count is 2 × 7 + 4 = 18 labels. The number 2 describes bundles, while 7 and 4 describe labels in different roles. Simply adding every visible number gives 13, which mixes units. Write the unit beside each intermediate result.
Inspect operations as well as answers
Six correct answers confirm the six calculations in this set, without establishing how you handle a longer ledger. If some or all were missed, compare your operation with the worked solution. A lost minus sign, forgotten loose item and double removal of an overlapping group would require different corrections; this edition explicitly states non-overlap where it matters.
An independent check pass
On invented numbers, write a short expression before calculating. Recheck it from the description rather than only redoing the same addition. For stock, confirm opening + received − issued = closing and ask whether the size is plausible. A calculator may help with arithmetic, but it cannot decide whether you chose the correct quantities and units.
A practice total has a narrow meaning
There is no speed measure, population reference or financial competence label. You may use paper or a calculator; keep the conditions similar if comparing your own practice runs. Once you know the answers, improvement on these same items may reflect memory. This is revision material, not a financial decision tool.
