Observe the frequency of expressing standards and check their basis.
Read CP standard-expressing actions, raw frequency scores, higher or lower readings, missing information and a checklist example without judging authority.
For CP, recall how often each of four actions occurred in the past four weeks when a relevant occasion arose, from 1 Never to 5 Almost always. All items are direct; none reverses. Four valid ratings produce a raw total of 4–20 and a descriptive mean from the unrounded sum divided by four, shown to two decimals. For example, 4, 3, 2, 5 total 14 with a mean of 3.50. Any NA leaves this group insufficient while other complete groups remain readable. The five groups are not added or normalised into energy percentages, a dominant type or an ideal shape. Ordered-category sums and decimals establish no measurement precision.
CP: putting standards and evaluations into words
This group borrows the functional label Critical Parent, or CP, to observe four actions: stating completion requirements, pointing out inconsistent standards, consulting a personal principle and identifying a requirement you want retained when an agreement changes. It tests neither harshness, parenthood, moral worth nor how you were raised. Frequency refers only to these four recallable actions, without identifying a voice inside your mind or covering a complete clinical ego state. Expressed standards may help coordination, but their justification can still need discussion. Having a standard does not make it correct. Start with this scope before deciding which items fit your recent four weeks.
How the four frequency ratings are scored
Higher: requirements enter the conversation more often
A higher result means you more often recall these standard-expressing actions, perhaps in settings where requirements need to be made explicit. Check whether others know the agreement you are relying on rather than calling the result natural leadership, correct judgment or strong principles. The questionnaire has not checked whether a standard is consistent, fair, timely or jointly accepted, nor how another person receives it. You can retain an important requirement while clarifying whether it is an existing agreement, a personal preference or something requiring a shared decision. Frequency grants no authority to set another person’s rules or expect them to accept correction.
Lower: an unspoken standard is not an absent one
A lower result may reflect fewer shared decisions about requirements, clear existing rules that needed no repetition, a preference for written expression or little room to raise a concern. Four items cannot distinguish those circumstances or establish weakness, missing values or a need to become tougher. Consider the opportunities relevant to a particular item; if none arose, NA better represents this edition’s rule than never. If a requirement genuinely needs discussion, choose an appropriate way to raise it or keep the choice not to respond yet. A lower score is not an assignment to criticise people more often or demonstrate stronger authority.
Four standard-expressing actions can differ
You might often consult a personal principle while rarely stating requirements to a group, or frequently clarify work standards without insisting that a changed agreement retain its original form. Equal totals do not preserve those differences, and a mean of three is no population average or optimal intensity. One NA does not turn the other three ratings into a complete CP score. This group stays insufficient in the five-part chart without promoting another group to a dominant type. Other groups may simultaneously be higher or lower. No fixed psychological energy is measured or transferred, and nothing here establishes suppressed care, playfulness or emotion.
Example and counterexample: a shared activity checklist
While preparing an ordinary shared activity, you notice that people use “done” differently on a checklist. You might specify that a venue confirmation is needed before marking an item complete, then check whether that was actually agreed. This illustrates expressing a standard, not better judgment. A counterexample is someone who rarely corrects wording because a document already explains the arrangements clearly; fewer such expressions establish no worse coordination. A requirement based on personal habit may also have an effective alternative. Evaluate the actual agreement and outcome rather than using CP scores to decide whose view has the final say in a conversation.
Optional check: whose requirement is it?
The next time a requirement genuinely needs expression, privately distinguish three possible sources: already agreed, personally preferred or still undecided. If useful, state that source alongside the requirement and leave room for constraints or an alternative. This optional check asks for neither automatic gentleness, surrender of an important boundary nor acceptance of every change. It promises no reduced conflict or improved score, and you may decline it if discussion is unsuitable. Do not manufacture mistakes to correct or record private conversations for practice. The aim is a clearer requirement in one actual collaboration, not training toward an ideal ego state or a prescribed personality.
CP, communication styles and theoretical sources
CP is one label in a functional transactional-analysis model; Parent, Adult and Child are not ages or family identities. Our four original items restrict observation to expressions of standards and evaluation rather than administering Dusay, Heyer, TEG3 or a competitor bank. Original research does not validate this edition. Direct communication, leadership and perfectionistic requirements may be nearby topics, but leadership ability, perfectionism and causes of conflict were not measured. A lower NP result cannot establish coldness beside CP. Compare particular items across all five groups while keeping counterexamples from other settings. Other instruments and thresholds bearing the same framework name cannot be applied to these numbers.
Full free text and optional review
All five full guides appear together for free without another assessment, an email address or payment. When reviewing, compare settings, opportunities and particular items rather than treating a score difference as treatment benefit or personality change. Answers are processed on this device without real conversations, childhood stories or third-party details. An explicitly enabled tab draft lasts at most twenty-four hours and clears on completion, retake or exit-and-clear; answering requires no saved draft. Sharing contains only the test name, public guide names and link, without answers, five scores or chart data. Later recommendations are optional different frameworks, not completion of an insufficient score. You may simply finish here.
