Floor sanders and finishers carry out work around this occupation's objects, processes, quality and delivery; specific tasks, training, qualifications, agreements and authorisation must be verified against local and employer original texts.
This list is for self-questioning only and does not constitute recruitment criteria, a capability score, or a conclusion evaluating construction quality and safety. This page is written according to the US O*NET-SOC 47-2043.00 'Floor Sanders and Finishers' (the fixed index gives this asset the Chinese name whose English rendering is 'Floor sanders and finishers'; the main objects are scraping, sanding and topcoat finishing of wooden floors).
Exercise prompt | a room of about 30 square metres with an old wooden floor needs renovation. Write a completely fictional work draft: (1) how to inspect the floor before starting (moisture content, cupping, gaps, type of old coating) and determine whether it is suitable for sanding; (2) how to choose the sequence of coarse sanding, fine sanding and edge sanding and the abrasive grits; (3) how to control dust removal and coating intervals (including ventilation and fire safety requirements); (4) how to carry out a completion self-check (surface flatness, colour variation, coating evenness and curing) and leave reviewable records. Use public information and simulated dimensions in your answer, and do not use any real client, address or contract information.
Safety work sample (a completely fictional task pack): given a simulated floor plan of a room of about 30 square metres with an old wooden floor and a description of the old coating, complete a renovation work draft within 60 minutes: suitability check records (moisture content, cupping, gaps, type and thickness of the old coating), abrasive and process plan (grits and sequence for coarse sanding — fine sanding — edge sanding), dust removal and ventilation plan (including dust fire safety and solvent use requirements), coating interval and curing control, completion self-check sheet (flatness, sanding marks, colour variation, coating evenness and curing), and state clearly which situations must be paused and reported rather than handled on your own.
O*NET47-2043.00 is the use of scrapers and floor sanding machines to make wooden floors smooth and to apply coatings. Tasks include cleaning, scraping and sanding edges and corners, flatness checks, gap filling and coating, and it is distinguished from laying covering materials, carpet, ceramic and stone tiles and terrazzo. Actual structure, services, fire safety, environmental protection or old coating disposal qualifications are verified by project and jurisdiction, and the occupational classification is not a list of legal permits.

| Occupational direction | Starter tasks | Evidence you can prepare | Work you can show without experience | How it differs from this occupation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Floor layers (except carpet, wood and hard tiles) | Substrate treatment and setting-out support, material cutting and laying support, edge finishing support | Shadowing records, master's appraisal, safety training certificate | A fictional room's resilient material laying plan (including joints and waste calculation) | Lays a new covering material rather than treating an old wooden surface; the materials and process differ |
| Carpet installers | Carpet carrying and unrolling, cutting and pattern matching support, seaming and fixing support | Shadowing records, master's appraisal, safety training certificate | A fictional room's carpet cutting and pattern matching plan | Handles cutting and tensioning of soft carpet material, with no wood or coating involved |
According to O*NET-SOC 47-2043.00, this occupation uses scrapers and sanding machines to scrape and sand wooden floors to make the surface flat and applies multiple topcoat layers. The work includes suitability checks (moisture content, cupping, type of old coating), scraping off the old coating, coarse and fine sanding, edge finishing, dust removal and gap filling, coating and curing control, and finished work self-check. It does not include laying floor covering materials, carpet, ceramic and stone tiling or terrazzo work.
Floor layers lay resilient and soft covering materials on the substrate, and the delivery is a new floor covering; carpenters process and install wood components (frames, doors and windows, the wooden floor itself, etc.); this occupation scrapes, sands and applies topcoats to the wooden surface after the wooden floor is installed, and the delivery is a flat, coated wooden surface. The material systems, process parameters and acceptance standards all differ.
2025 median annual wage 50,440 US dollars (median hourly wage 24.25 US dollars); 2024 employment about 5,600 people; projected growth over 2024—2034 is 'average' (about 3%–4%), with about 400 job openings over the projection period (including growth and replacement needs, a projection-period total rather than an annual average). The above uses the US O*NET / BLS definition and does not apply to other jurisdictions.
Fit signals | O*NET points of focus: using hands to handle, control or feel tools continuously (88% continually or almost continually), face-to-face discussions with individuals and teams every day (83%), continuous bending or twisting of the body (76%), precision or accuracy extremely important (50%), a lot of freedom to determine tasks and priorities (51%), making decisions every day (55%), teamwork important (53%). If you are willing to operate sanding equipment and hand tools for long periods, to control the process finely according to abrasive and coating techniques, and are sensitive to surface flatness and colour variation, then the daily requirements of this occupation are closer to your way of working.
Caution signals | O*NET also shows: exposed to contaminants every day (90%), exposed to distracting or uncomfortable noise every day (76%), exposed to hazardous equipment every day (59%), exposed to whole body vibration every day (44%), wearing specialised protective equipment every day (42%), exposed to hazardous conditions every day (35%), time pressure (53% once a week or more), pace determined by equipment speed (31% extremely important), continuous bending or twisting of the body (76%) and kneeling, crouching or crawling (66%). Sanding and coating work involves wood dust, solvent coating odours and high noise, and dust also carries an explosion risk. If you find it hard to wear protective equipment for long periods or to work in dust and solvent environments, or have low tolerance for sanding vibration, treat these as real costs that need careful weighing.
Taking on the judgement | real fit comes from being able to do three things at once in the real pace of a site: keep to the process steps (moisture content and suitability determination, coarse and fine sanding sequence, dust removal and coating intervals), make the surface stable (flat, free of sanding marks, even colour and coating), and take on reviewable record-keeping responsibility at process handovers. It is suggested to test this through one verifiable experience (such as working as a labourer or apprentice on a wooden floor renovation site, or a vocational school sanding and coating practical assessment), rather than relying only on the conclusion of an interest questionnaire.
Work context | the O*NET 47-2043.00 work context shows: the work is characterised by hands-on operation, dust and solvent environments and high noise, with specific conditions varying by floor condition and site type. Contaminant exposure | exposed to contaminants every day (90%), mainly wood dust and coating vapours, requiring ventilation and protection. Hand use | using hands to handle, control or feel objects and tools continuously (88% continually or almost continually). Face-to-face communication | face-to-face discussions with individuals and teams every day (83%), requiring on-site confirmation of floor condition and process progress. Physical load | continuous bending or twisting of the body (76%), kneeling, crouching or crawling (66%), and repetitive motion for long periods (66%). Noise environment | exposed to distracting or uncomfortable noise every day (76%), from sanding equipment and dust extraction equipment. Protective equipment | wearing routine protective equipment every day (61%) and specialised protective equipment (42%), with hazardous equipment exposure 59% every day; these are the corresponding answer bands, not accident rates. Decision authority | decision freedom partly free (55%), a lot of freedom to determine tasks and priorities (51%); precision or accuracy extremely important (50%). Time and pace | time pressure exists (53% once a week or more but not every day), and pace is determined by equipment speed (31% extremely important).
Environment and pace | the work is mostly inside housing, offices and shops that are delivered or half delivered, usually after other trades have left the site; there is a lot of dust on site, limited ventilation, and noticeable coating odour and noise. The work pace is constrained by floor condition, coating curing time and the schedule for bringing in furniture, and overtime is needed to meet deadlines; the slow and busy seasons relate to regional renovation cycles. Physical load is concentrated in long periods of bending, kneeling and pushing and pulling equipment, and protective gear and dust extraction equipment must be used per procedure with attention to dust fire safety.
Tools and materials | equipment: drum sanders, flat sanders, edge sanders, scrapers and putty knives, dust extraction and dust removal equipment, gap filling and coating tools (rollers, brushes, spreaders). Materials: abrasive grits (sandpaper and abrasive cloth), filler and gap filling materials, primer and topcoat or penetrating coatings, cleaners and wax removers. Documents: floor and coating product instructions, moisture content and work condition descriptions, coating interval and curing time schedules, self-check and acceptance sheets. All process parameters (moisture content limits, coating intervals, curing times) are subject to the product instructions valid on the day.
Inspect floor and old coating condition → determine suitability and treat defects → coarse and fine sanding and finishing edges → dust removal and gap filling repair → coating and curing control → self-check handover and protecting the finished work
Quality standards | the surface should be flat and free of sanding marks and waves, with a natural transition between edges and machine-sanded surfaces; colour variation and coating thickness should be controlled, with even coating, no runs and no missed areas, and curing meeting the instructions. Dust should be removed thoroughly and the interior should reach delivery condition after work; moisture content and work conditions should meet product requirements. Anything inconsistent with the drawings, product instructions or acceptance specifications must be recorded and reported to the foreman and must not be downgraded on your own.
Adjacent responsibility boundaries | this page covers O*NET-SOC 47-2043.00; adjacent but different occupations include Floor Layers, Except Carpet, Wood, and Hard Tiles (resilient material laying), Carpet Installers (carpet), Tile and Stone Setters (ceramic and stone tiles), Terrazzo Workers and Finishers (terrazzo) and Carpenters (wood component work). Matters involving floor structure repair, replacement of wood components and floor waterproofing are borne by the corresponding trades and responsible parties; this occupation does not overstep to replace their judgement and sign-off.
Boundary review points | pause and escalate when the following situations arise: the floor moisture content exceeds the limit or there is structural deformation that cannot be treated per the instructions; the floor is judged unsuitable for sanding (such as too thin a wear layer, severe damage, or harmful materials requiring specialist handling); the old coating may contain regulated substances such as lead and needs specialist disposal (stop and hand it to a qualified person for assessment); on-site ventilation or fire safety conditions are insufficient; or structural changes or changes affecting fire compartments are needed. These situations are handled by the foreman, technical lead or project manager per the contract and specifications.
Inspect floor and old coating → determine suitability and treat defects → coarse and fine sanding and finishing edges → dust removal and gap filling → coating and curing → self-check and protection of the finished work
Difference from floor-layers-except-carpet-wood-and-hard-tiles: the latter lay covering materials such as resilient sheet, linoleum, cork and rubber on top of the substrate, and the delivery is a complete floor covering; this occupation scrapes, sands and coats the surface of existing wooden floors, and the delivery is a flat, coated wooden surface. The material systems, tools and acceptance indicators of the two differ.
Difference from carpet-installers: the latter handle the cutting, pattern matching and tensioning of soft carpet material; this occupation handles the sanding and coating of hard wooden surfaces and does not involve soft materials, and the process and finished appearance standards of the two differ.
Difference from tile-and-stone-setters: the latter lay hard blocks using wet work and emphasise void control and joint filling; this occupation does not lay blocks but sands and coats the surface of wooden floors, and the work conditions and acceptance indicators differ, so they cannot substitute for one another.
Difference from terrazzo-workers-and-finishers: terrazzo workers are involved in site-cast and sanded and polished terrazzo surface work, which is a stone-based composite surface; this occupation's object is wooden flooring and involves wood sanding and coating systems, so the materials and processes of the two differ clearly.
Before choosing this occupation, compare: the real tasks (floor type, difficulty of treating the old coating, coating system), qualification and training paths (on-the-job training and apprenticeship, relevant certificates), shifts and travel (moving with projects, possibly working away from home), physical and health costs (dust, solvent odour, noise, kneeling and vibration), and growth paths (skilled sander, team leader, quality inspection, coating technical work or taking on wooden floor renovation contracts). Employers and regions vary considerably and this should be verified against actual recruitment and site experience.
Responsibility boundaries cannot be inferred from the similarity of job titles: although all are 'floor' positions, laying covering layers, laying carpet, laying ceramic and stone tiles, terrazzo work and wooden floor sanding and coating differ in material properties, process parameters, hazard factors and acceptance standards. Cross-trade work requires relearning the process and specifications and cannot reuse the original trade's judgement and sign-off authority.
AI task exposure | digital tools may assist with area and abrasive usage estimation, process records and draft checklists, coating interval and curing time reminders, and photo and document archiving. But moisture content and suitability judgement, abrasive and process selection, dust removal and ventilation control, coating work and curing judgement, and finished work acceptance and quality sign-off remain with the on-site workers and the foreman; task exposure does not equal job replacement.
Adoption conditions | digital tools entering a construction site need to satisfy: tool outputs are traceable and reviewable and do not replace on-site measurement; records and reminders do not encroach on actual work and safe dust removal time; estimates involving schedule and material usage must be confirmed by the foreman before being used for purchasing and settlement. A technical demonstration does not mean the organisation has adopted it, nor does it change coating work safety and environmental responsibility.
Data and system thresholds | before adoption, verify: whether the floor and coating instruction versions are controlled; whether moisture content and work condition records can be traced back to the original measurement; record access permissions and retention periods; whether devices or software can be used offline on sites without network; whether the data definitions are consistent between the different parties; and whether judgements involving regulated old materials such as lead can be traced back to their basis.
Human control points and manual review | suitability judgement, abrasive and process selection, dust removal and ventilation and fire safety control, coating work and curing judgement, and finished quality sign-off and process handover must be completed by the on-site workers and the foreman; any usage, interval or inspection conclusion generated by a tool must be manually reviewed with a trace of the check left before use.
Residual responsibility | matters that must not be released automatically: whether the floor has sanding conditions, whether the old coating needs specialist disposal, whether the coating system and intervals apply, whether the finished work meets the acceptance standards, and confirmation of changes and additional costs. No tool output equals a pass conclusion or an authorisation decision.
Failure risk | unreviewed tool outputs may directly cause wrong abrasive and coating usage, reversed process sequence, misjudged curing times and rework, or treating unconfirmed condition judgements as an established plan on site, resulting in surface defects, coating failure and cost overruns. Before deployment, make clear who reviews and against what original materials.
Employment evidence boundaries | the employment and wage data of this occupation must be distinguished by definition: the US figures from O*NET and the BLS are estimates under a specific statistical definition and cannot be extrapolated directly to mainland China or other regions; China uses industry category average wages as a background proxy, which does not constitute an occupational wage conclusion. Anything generated should be traceable back to the original inputs and sources, and fluent wording must not be treated as correct evidence.
Practical response | first put digital tools into low-risk steps that can be rolled back and audited (such as record organisation and photo archiving, usage trial calculations and curing reminders), subject to on-site measurement and foreman confirmation; decide whether to expand the scope of use based on error records and rework, and always keep manual sign-off for safety and quality judgements.
Cross-market definition boundaries | mainland China and the United States have different industry and occupational classification systems: mainland China publishes the average wage of employed persons in urban units by national economic industry category, without listing this occupation separately; the United States gives estimates by SOC occupation and industry. The two cannot be spliced or converted, and industry averages cannot replace occupational wages.
Insufficient evidence: mainland China has not established public occupational wage statistics precisely corresponding to 'floor sanders and finishers'; industry averages, recruitment quotes or third-party estimates are not used as substitutes.
Mainland China wage evidence review points | this page provides only statistical definitions, industry background proxies and a register of visible gaps, and does not provide an estimated wage for this occupation. Before using any figure, first confirm whether its statistical definition (industry category / occupation), statistical period, unit of measurement and covered population are comparable with this occupation.
US wage evidence review points | the US figures on this page come from BLS OEWS May 2025 and the BLS 2024—2034 employment projections (presented via O*NET). Before use, confirm their occupational scope (SOC 47-2043), whether they include overtime and benefits (OEWS does not), and whether they are national rather than a single region or employer.
Mainland China wage evidence — market definition | the National Bureau of Statistics publishes the average wage of employed persons in urban units by industry category, which is a national urban unit definition and is not split by occupation; the average wages of related categories such as construction can only serve as background reference and cannot replace occupational wages.
Insufficient evidence: no occupational wage median for floor sanders and finishers that can be verified by occupation was obtained for mainland China; industry category averages are not used as substitutes.
Mainland China wage evidence — statistical period | industry average wages are an annual definition (the figures below are for 2025, published in 2026), which differs from the US May 2025 point-in-time wage on this page, and the two periods cannot be mixed.
Cross-market definition boundaries | mainland China industry average wages and US occupational wages differ in statistical object, period and definition; this page presents them separately with their limitations noted, does not perform currency conversion, and does not treat industry averages as occupational wages.
Mainland China wage evidence — unit of measurement | the National Bureau of Statistics publishes annual average wages in 'yuan / year', on a pre-tax total wage definition (including personal income tax withheld by the employer and the employee's own social insurance and housing provident fund contributions); US OEWS publishes in 'US dollars / hour' or 'US dollars / year', excluding overtime, bonuses and benefits. The units and inclusions differ and cannot be compared directly.
Insufficient evidence: no floor sander and finisher wage data verifiable by region or employment form was obtained for mainland China; individual quotes or second-hand accounts are not used as substitutes.
Mainland China wage evidence — covered population | the urban non-private unit definition covers employed persons in non-private legal entities in urban areas, and the urban private unit definition covers employed persons in private units; neither covers self-employment, scattered contracting or the labour employment common in the renovation sector; income for this occupation varies considerably across employment forms and is hard for public statistics to cover.
US wage evidence — market definition | BLS OEWS is a sample survey estimate representing wages reported by employers; it excludes the self-employed. The median represents the midpoint of the distribution and is not a starting wage, nor does it represent any single region or employer.
US wage evidence — statistical period | the wage is May 2025 OEWS; employment, growth and openings are from the 2024—2034 employment projections. The two types of data have different reference points and must not be mixed into a conclusion for the same point in time.
US wage evidence — unit of measurement | published in 'US dollars / hour' and 'US dollars / year'; the annual average wage is converted on a full-year full-time basis, and converting between hourly and annual values does not equal personal actual income, which is also affected by hours, overtime and season.
US wage evidence — covered population | covers employed persons reported by non-farm establishment employers, excluding the self-employed, some agricultural positions and unreported cash-settled work; the independent contracting and daily-cash casual work common in renovation and refurbishment are hard to cover completely.
US wage evidence — occupational scope | the figures on this page correspond to SOC 47-2043 (Floor Sanders and Finishers); they exclude floor covering laying (47-2042), carpet installation (47-2041), tile and stone setting (47-2044) and terrazzo workers. Wages across occupations must not be mixed.
US wage evidence — sampling and missing data limitations | OEWS is a sample estimate with sampling error, and estimates may be missing or unreliable at industry and regional detail; this occupation has a small employment size (about 5,600 people in 2024), so detailed estimates are more prone to being missing; no industry-readable industry wage was obtained for this page, and that position is registered as a visible gap; industry averages or third-party estimates are not used as substitutes.
Conclusion | the core difference between this occupation and adjacent occupations lies in 'what is done to the surface of existing wooden floors': this occupation scrapes, sands and applies topcoats, delivering a flat, coated wooden surface; floor layers lay resilient covering materials on the substrate, carpet installers handle soft carpet material, tile and stone setters do wet-work laying, terrazzo workers produce site-cast and polished composite surfaces, and carpenters process wood components. The material systems, process parameters, hazard factors and acceptance standards all differ, and judgement and sign-off authority cannot be carried across trades.
Evidence note | the comparison objects in the table below come from the O*NET occupational classification and publicly available materials on sale, and are used to help distinguish the work content of adjacent trades and choose a fit; they do not constitute qualification, recruitment or compensation conclusions. The wages and employment of each occupation must be verified separately under their own SOC definitions, and this table does not compare figures or treat one trade's wage as a proxy for another's.
Preface | the following comparison is laid out in four columns: 'occupational direction — core work and outputs — key differences — what it is a better choice for'. There is process linkage between adjacent trades (for example, the carpenter completes the wooden floor installation and this occupation sands and coats it, or this occupation finishes and the floor layer lays resilient material), but linkage does not equal substitutability; when choosing across directions, the process, specifications and acceptance standards must be relearned.
Wood surface treatment and the coating system are key: moisture content and suitability judgement, abrasive sequence, and dust removal and coating intervals determine the finished quality, and the process sequence cannot be reversed.
Better suited to people willing to operate sanding equipment for long periods, who can accept dust and solvent environments, and who are sensitive to surface flatness and colour variation; those interested in wood and coating systems fit better.
Output is a flat, coated wooden surface: suitability checks, scraping off the old coating, coarse and fine sanding, edge finishing, dust removal and gap filling, coating and curing, and finished work self-check.
This occupation: floor sanders and finishers
Laying resilient and soft covering materials on the substrate is key: it emphasises material expansion, jointing methods and adhesive open time, and it is 'laying a new surface layer' rather than 'treating an old wooden surface'.
Better suited to people who prefer material laying and jointing and edge finishing and are unwilling to face dust and coating odour for long periods; those with little interest in wood sanding and coating can choose this direction.
Output is a complete floor covering with joints and edge finishing: substrate inspection and treatment, setting out and trial laying, cutting and jointing and laying, edge transition, cleaning and self-check records.
Floor layers (except carpet, wood and hard tiles)
Cutting, pattern matching and tensioning of soft carpet material are key: it works with soft materials, and the finished work emphasises feel underfoot and decorative patterns, with no wood sanding or coating system involved.
Better suited to people who prefer soft materials and pattern matching; those interested in patterns and cutting and joining can choose this direction.
Output is a carpet-type covering: carpet cutting and pattern matching, seams and fixing, stair and doorway edge finishing, cleaning and acceptance records.
Carpet installers
Cutting, laying and joint filling of hard blocks are key: it is mostly wet work and is stricter about substrate strength and void control, with no wood or coating involved.
Better suited to people who can accept wet work and cutting dust and who enjoy finely controlling voids and joint appearance.
Output is a ceramic and stone surface: setting out and cutting, laying and levelling, joint filling and pointing, finished work protection and acceptance records.
Tile and stone setters
Forming a composite surface by site casting and sanding and polishing is key: it involves cement-based materials and aggregate proportions, dividing strips and grinding and polishing, adding casting and curing steps compared with this occupation.
Better suited to people who can accept both wet work and mechanical sanding and polishing and are willing to deal with proportions and curing.
Output is a terrazzo surface: substrate treatment, aggregate and cement proportions, casting and dividing, grinding, polishing and curing.
Terrazzo workers and finishers
Wood component processing and installation are key: the output is frames, doors and windows, cabinets and wood components; this occupation only treats the wooden surface after they are completed and does not take on component processing or structural duties.
Better suited to people willing to learn carpentry processing and dimensional fitting and able to take responsibility for component precision; those who only want surface treatment and coating fit this occupation.
Output is wood components and installation: measuring and setting out, component processing and assembly, installation and alignment, finished work and safety records.
Carpenters
Transition | this page sets adjacent trades side by side by material and process, to help you judge which craft you want to invest in long term. Whichever direction you choose, what really determines whether you can take up the work is your understanding of product instructions and acceptance specifications, on-site measurement and record-keeping capability, and passing a practical assessment accepted by the employer or foreman; an interest questionnaire is only for raising questions.
Newly entered apprentices and helpers
Use tools in low-risk support steps: material and abrasive lists, photo archiving, area and usage trial calculations and self-check record organisation; all moisture content judgements and process choices are subject to on-site measurement and foreman confirmation.
Frontline sanding and coating workers
Use digital tools for process records, coating and curing time reminders and leftover material registers; abrasive and process selection, dust removal and coating control and finished work self-check are still completed by you.
Team leaders and foremen
Use tools for scheduling and labour and material planning, and for tracking checklists and rectification items; process handover and quality sign-off must be reviewed on site with a record left, and tool outputs are not released directly.
Coating technical, quality inspection and sales positions
Use tools for document organisation, specification comparison and draft training materials; material suitability and compliance judgements must be manually confirmed per product instructions and specifications.

Technically feasible: a task may be technically touchable by a tool, which is only a feasibility judgement and does not mean it is permitted or that the organisation has adopted it.
Institutional adoption: whether to introduce it depends on product instructions, coating environmental and safety requirements, employer rules and acceptance requirements; construction quality and safety responsibility cannot be transferred by introducing tools.
Job outcomes: whether task changes lead to job gains or losses depends on renovation demand, refurbishment cycles and employment structure and cannot be inferred directly from technical feasibility.
No disappearance time or replacement effect was obtained this round and no commitment can be made that it will not happen in the short term; it is suggested to trial approved calculations and records and measure error and rework.
O*NET 47-2043.00 (tasks and work context)
O*NET lists CAD, database, project, spreadsheet and video software; this does not prove the site has adopted them, and moisture content devices or reminders are not automatically generative AI.
BLS occupational employment projections (definition note)
Wood and coating judgement, on-site measurement and defect handling, abrasive and process experience, dust removal and ventilation and fire safety control, and the ability to hold quality and safety under schedule pressure.
BLS OEWS (wage and employment definitions)
No exact Chinese occupational wage, employment or AI adoption data were obtained this round; industry averages serve only as background and it cannot be asserted that the statistics do not exist.
ILO future of work research (task exposure mechanism)
First make clear who reviews tool outputs, against what original materials, and how to fall back if errors occur, and verify product instructions and environmental and safety requirements; high-impact judgements and quality sign-off must not be released automatically by tools.
NIST AI RMF (governance principles)
Contracts and project documents, client information, and moisture content and construction records should have their use and retention periods limited; unauthorised drawings, client information or contract data must not be uploaded to external services.
O*NET occupational scope (boundaries)
Judge using three layers of evidence: technical feasibility, whether institutions adopt it, and job outcomes; combine this with local renovation cycles, refurbishment demand and employment forms rather than looking only at a tool demonstration.
O*NET hot technologies (related tool list)
The following are editorial review suggestions; actual safety, environmental protection, quality and sign-off are verified by project and jurisdiction.
Safety status judgement: ventilation and fire safety conditions, dust and solvent management, and equipment power supply and protection are judged by on-site personnel; tools do not judge safety.
Correctness of conditions and quality: moisture content, suitability and usage judgements must be manually reviewed before being used for construction and purchasing, checking against the original measurement and product instructions.
On-site execution and process control: abrasive sequence, travel speed, and dust removal and coating intervals are executed by on-site personnel per product instructions.
Record authenticity and traceability: inspection and acceptance records must reflect the real process, and unverified records or back-signed records must not be generated with tools.
Escalation and sign-off: decisions involving regulated old materials, changes, rework and quality release must be confirmed by the foreman or project manager with a record left.
Estimation error leads to material overstock or shortage, cost overruns and unclear responsibility
Review against on-site measurement and product instructions as the baseline, naming the reviewer and leaving a record
Skipping measurement leads to coating peeling, edge lifting and large-scale rework
The suitability determination must be measured on site and recorded; tools only provide the record format
Client information, drawings and contract data may be improperly disclosed or tampered with
Limit use and retention periods, and do not upload sensitive materials to external services
Distorted quality and safety records affect acceptance and accountability
Records must reflect the real construction process; generating unverified records is prohibited
Responsibility cannot be determined when a quality or safety incident occurs
Before adopting tools, first make clear the review and sign-off responsible persons and leave a record

The median is the midpoint of the distribution, not a starting wage; the original percentiles were not re-obtained, and experience or regional causation cannot be inferred from the spread.
OEWS counts employees' pre-tax wages for regular working hours, including commissions, incentive pay, production bonuses and tips; it excludes overtime premium, non-production bonuses and employer benefit costs, and does not cover the self-employed. Regional and industry differences are reflected in the wage distribution and cannot be summarised as not being counted.
Process, hours and team-leading duties can serve as contract review items; no causal measurement of their effect on income ceilings was obtained.
Usage suggestion: read the median, percentiles and employment figures together and check them against the local market and target employer, and do not infer personal pay from a single figure.

Holland (RIASEC) | used to understand your relative position on Realistic and Conventional preferences. The O*NET interest code for this occupation is RC (Realistic—Conventional), corresponding to hands-on work and working to procedures. A questionnaire is only for raising questions, not for judging suitability or employability.
Evidence grade | medium: the interest code comes from O*NET's results on workers and occupational analysis, but individual scores and occupational codes are not in a one-to-one relationship.
If you clearly reject physical labour, dust and coating odour, a high questionnaire score cannot change that real cost.
Editorial suggestion: observe process review and anomaly reporting work samples; this page has not verified the predictive validity of the Big Five for performance in this occupation.
Occupational predictive validity not verified
Do not use 'a personality test says I am not suited' as a reason to give up or not enter the trade; rely on on-site experience and practical assessment.
How to understand this interest code: RC represents a combination of Realistic (hands-on work, tools and materials, physical activity) and Conventional (organising work to procedures and standards); it is used to understand task preferences, not to predict performance.
MBTI | typology is used for self-reflection on communication preferences; this occupation requires confirming floor condition and progress face to face, and a preference does not determine competence.
Interest experience: enjoying the process of restoring an old floor to flatness and gloss, being willing to work step by step to abrasive and coating specifications, and gaining satisfaction from eliminating surface defects.
Evidence grade | low: MBTI is not an occupational qualification or ability assessment tool and cannot be used as an employment basis.
Realistic—Conventional
Treat the type only as a reference for communication style, and do not use it to infer whether you or others can do sanding and coating work well.
Enneagram | used to observe how you react under pressure; when rework or quality objections arise on site, being able to pause and report as required matters more than a type label.
Evidence grade | low: a self-exploration tool that does not constitute an occupational ability or fit conclusion.
Do not use type labels to explain quality or safety failures; go back to whether the process, tools and authorisation were in place.
Observe cognitive tests and wood, process, spatial and manual work samples separately; this page has not verified their predictive validity or relative importance for this occupation.
Occupational predictive validity not verified
A high or low score cannot show whether you can learn sanding and coating; test it through actual practice and work.
Team communication can serve as a sample for reflection; the predictive validity of emotional intelligence for performance or safety in this occupation has not been verified.
Evidence grade | low: emotional intelligence assessment results are self-reported and cannot serve as recruitment or performance conclusions.
Emotional ability can be improved through on-site experience and deliberate practice, and there is no need to limit yourself by assessment scores.
Boundary | the assessments and direction comparisons on this page are only for self-questioning and exploration and do not constitute recruitment criteria, a capability score, a practice qualification judgement, or a conclusion evaluating construction quality and safety; entry is subject to employer recruitment conditions, on-the-job training and assessment, and the regulations and specifications of your region.
Interests can be explored; use approved, supervised observation or simulated record experience, and one task is not verified as the most reliable predictor.
Floor layers (except carpet, wood and hard tiles) | output is laying resilient and soft covering materials on the substrate: substrate treatment, setting out and trial laying, cutting and jointing, edge transition and self-check
Has material and joint control capability and can accept physical load and material adhesive processes
If you are unwilling to control the process finely per the material instructions, or have little interest in laying covering materials, this direction is not recommended.
Tile and stone setters | output is cutting, laying and joint filling of hard blocks: setting out and cutting, laying and levelling, joint filling and pointing
Has wet work and cutting capability and can strictly control voids and joint appearance
If you cannot accept wet work, cutting dust and stricter void control, this direction is not recommended.
Carpenters | output is wood component processing and installation: measuring and setting out, component processing and assembly, installation and alignment
Has carpentry processing and dimensional fitting capability and can take responsibility for component precision
This direction is not recommended for those who only want surface treatment and coating and are unwilling to learn wood component processing and fitting.
Terrazzo workers and finishers | output is forming a composite surface by site casting and sanding and polishing: aggregate and cement proportions, casting and dividing, grinding and polishing and curing
Can accept both wet work and mechanical sanding and polishing, and is willing to deal with proportions and curing
If you are unwilling to deal with proportions and curing, or have low tolerance for wet work, this direction is not recommended.
Floor sanders and finishers | output is scraping, sanding and topcoat finishing of wooden floors: suitability checks, scraping off the old coating, coarse and fine sanding, dust removal and gap filling, coating and curing, self-check
Has wood and coating process control capability and can accept dust and solvent environments and a relatively high physical load
If you are unwilling to wear protective equipment, cannot accept dust and coating odour, or lack patience for surface flatness and colour variation, this occupation is not recommended.
Carpet installers | output is cutting, pattern matching and fixing of soft carpet material: carpet cutting and pattern matching, seams and fixing, stair and doorway edge finishing
Has soft material cutting and joining capability and can accept pattern and matching work
If you are unwilling to handle the cutting and seaming of large areas of soft material, this direction is not recommended.
What personality is it suited to? This occupation values willingness to work with your hands, patience and awareness of specifications more than any personality type; the O*NET interest code is RC (Realistic—Conventional) and can serve as a starting point for exploration.
An introvert label does not determine whether you can do the job; there are face-to-face discussions 83% every day, so it cannot be concluded that social intensity is low. Verify against actual communication duties.
What should you prepare before entering? First understand the real pace of a site (dust, coating odour, noise and schedule pressure) and prepare basic safety knowledge and use of protective equipment; you can start as a helper or apprentice.
Time pressure 53% once a week or more but not every day is the corresponding answer band; specific processes and schedules are verified separately.
Are there physical requirements? You need to be able to bend, kneel and push and pull equipment for long periods and wear protective equipment; specific medical examination and employment requirements are subject to the employer and local regulations, and this page does not provide medical examination conclusions.
US vocational education survey 47% below high school / 35% high school / 16% postsecondary certificate; typical BLS entry requires no formal educational credential, JobZone1—2 is a general preparation description, and Chinese notices are verified separately.
Will long-term work harm your health? Dust, solvents, noise and vibration are real costs; use protective gear and dust extraction equipment, pay attention to ventilation and work breaks, and work per safety procedures.
Career cycle and transition directions? You can grow from apprentice to skilled sander and coater, team leader and foreman, or move into quality inspection, coating and wooden floor technical support, or take on renovation projects; changing direction requires relearning the process and specifications.
USJobZone1—2, RC, education 47 / 35 / 16; typical BLS entry requires no formal educational credential. The specific qualifications for Chinese recruitment, specialised operations and regulated old materials are verified by target duties and jurisdiction, and not all provisions were verified.
How do you verify your fit? Test it with one real small wooden floor renovation task: whether you can complete it per the abrasive and coating process, whether you can accept the dust and solvent environment, and whether you can rectify as required during rework.
Fit signals: willing to work hands-on on site to restore an old floor to flatness and gloss, able to work finely per abrasive and coating specifications, and communicating progress and problems face to face within the team.
Caution signals: difficulty accepting physical load, dust and coating odour, noise and vibration, or a lack of patience for surface flatness and colour variation.
Verification suggestion: first test physical acceptance, process learning speed and willingness to rectify with one simulated or real small-area sanding and coating task, and then decide whether to invest long term.

Boundary | this page lists the failure types and control points more commonly seen in on-site work in this occupation, to help identify and manage risk, and does not constitute legal, safety, medical or contractual advice. Anything involving regulated old materials, fire safety, personal injury and contractual disputes should be handled by the employer, project manager and the corresponding competent authorities per regulations and the contract.
Editorial verification directions include the suitability of wooden floors and old coatings, dust / solvent management, records, information authorisation and finished work handover; no measurement of accident rates or ranking of severe consequences was obtained.
The US O*NET figures of contaminants 90%, hazardous equipment 59%, whole body vibration 44%, specialised protective gear 42% and hazardous conditions 35% are per day; time pressure 53% is weekly but not daily; responsibility for others' safety 49% is extremely high. All are answer bands, not accident rates or doses. The cards are editorial checks, and O*NET / BLS / NIST are not complete sources of safety, environmental, old coating permit or privacy law.
Construction crew and foreman; property owner and subsequent users
Starting sanding and coating without measuring moisture content or determining suitability; coating peeling, edge lifting and colour variation, leading to large-scale rework and schedule delays
Carry out a moisture content and suitability check on arrival and record it, pausing when conditions do not meet requirements; after treating conditions, proceed to sanding only with foreman confirmation
Scenario | sanding began without measuring moisture content to save time, and after coating the floor peeled and showed large-scale colour variation.
Construction crew; property owner and subsequent users
Failing to identify old coatings or materials containing regulated substances such as lead; regulated substances form dust during sanding, creating health and environmental compliance risks
When an old coating is suspected of containing regulated substances, stop the normal sanding process and submit it for the corresponding specialist assessment; testing, training, qualification and disposal rules are verified against the actual material and jurisdiction, and not all current provisions were verified this round.
Scenario | an old floor of considerable age was sanded directly without identifying a possible lead-containing old coating.
Construction crew and workmates; property owner and neighbouring residents
Inadequate dust and solvent management (insufficient ventilation, dust accumulation, hot work); may cause fire and explosion, poisoning and indoor air quality problems
Wear protective equipment as required and maintain ventilation and dust removal, clearing dust accumulations; comply with hot work and electrical rules, and store coatings and dispose of waste per specifications
Scenario | the site had insufficient ventilation, heavy dust accumulation, and protective equipment was not worn as required.
Construction crew and quality inspection; property owner and project party
Missing, version-confused or retrospectively falsified construction and acceptance records; quality cannot be traced, and responsibility is hard to determine and acceptance affected when problems arise
Record per the version valid for that shift and archive checklists and photos promptly; records must reflect the real construction process and falsified entries are prohibited
Scenario | with multiple crews working in turn, inspection and acceptance records were scattered among individuals without unified versions or archiving.
Client and project party; construction party
Project drawings, client information or contract data used beyond scope or disclosed externally; leaking privacy and commercial information and creating compliance and contractual risk
Verify access, use and archiving per authorisation, contract and information security requirements, and do not upload to external tools without permission; returning or retaining materials on leaving is per the real requirements, and destruction is not uniformly mandated.
Scenario | to make communication easier, photos containing client information and drawings were sent to a personal social tool or external cloud drive.
Construction crew; adjacent trades and the main contractor
Unclear agreements on process interfaces with adjacent trades and finished work protection responsibility; mutual blame and contaminated or damaged finished work, leading to rework and schedule delays
Before starting, clarify the handover conditions, finished work protection responsibility and acceptance milestones; confirm handovers in writing or with traceable records
Scenario | a handover with an adjacent trade did not clarify finished work protection responsibility, and contamination and damage later occurred with mutual accusations.

US education survey 47 / 35 / 16, typical BLS entry requires no formal educational credential; Chinese notices are verified separately.
Related education is for exploration; no Chinese recruitment advantage was measured.
Education, training, practical work and statutory qualifications are verified separately, and no single factor is asserted as the only recruitment factor.
Common requirements: health and safety education records, and basic knowledge of protection for dust and solvent work.
Some employers require training records for specialised work such as work at height, temporary electrical work or confined spaces (depending on the project).
Where regulated old materials are being handled, a qualified person must assess and dispose of them; the specifics are subject to the employer and local requirements.
O*NET interest code RC (Realistic—Conventional), leaning towards hands-on work and working to procedures.
The work context emphasises contaminant exposure (90% every day), continuous hand use (88%) and physical load (bending 76%, kneeling, crouching or crawling 66%).
Interest and personality data are for self-questioning only and do not constitute recruitment or performance conclusions.
Common equipment: drum sanders, flat sanders, edge sanders, scrapers and putty knives, dust extraction and dust removal equipment, coating rollers and spreaders.
Common materials: abrasive grits, filler and gap filling materials, primer and topcoat or penetrating coatings, cleaning and wax removing agents.
Process parameters (moisture content limits, coating intervals, curing times) are subject to the product instructions valid for that shift.
A completely fictional room floor plan (with dimensions and door and window positions).
A blank suitability checklist (moisture content, cupping, gaps, type of old coating).
A blank completion self-check sheet (flatness, sanding marks, waves, colour variation, coating evenness and curing).
A material list (abrasive grits, filler, primer and topcoat).
A process flow chart (suitability check — scraping — coarse sanding — fine sanding — edges — dust removal and gap filling — coating — curing).
A pen and calculator (for area and usage trial calculations).
A timer (60 minute limit).
Complete within 60 minutes: suitability check records, abrasive and process plan, dust removal and ventilation plan, coating interval and curing control.
Complete the area and abrasive and coating usage trial calculation, and write at least two risks that could cause rework with the corresponding measures.
Write out which situations must be paused and reported rather than handled on your own (such as regulated old materials or conditions not meeting requirements).
First list the inspection sequence and the items that cannot be omitted, then record the confirmation method and result for each item.
For floor defects and the old coating, write clearly the location, the phenomenon, the basis for judgement and the suggested treatment.
For abrasives and coatings, write clearly the process, tools and acceptance standards.
Finally write a reflection: what consequences arise if certain steps are compressed.
Does not involve structural, waterproofing, electrical or fire safety determinations; for old coatings that may contain regulated substances, always state that work stops first and is referred to a qualified person.
The work only shows that you can organise a task and keep records the way this occupation works, and does not constitute proof of qualification or competence.
List every step you completed in the simulated task in three columns: 'task — capability — evidence'.
Mark whether each step was completed independently or under someone else's guidance.
Mark which steps must be reported rather than judged on your own.
Ask an experienced person to review your suitability judgement and abrasive and process plan and point out problems in writing.
Record the review opinion, the time and the basis, to support later review.
Do not show only the final effect images; show the before and after comparison of rework or rectification.
Write a handover-ready construction summary (process, materials and usage, coating and curing, deviations and treatment).
The summary must not contain client names, ID numbers or any identifying information.
State the information sources and assumptions, distinguishing measured values from estimated values.
If calculation tools or spreadsheets were used, mark which parts were generated by the tool and which were checked and revised by you.
Explain who reviewed the tool outputs before they were used.
If tool parameters (such as waste rate) are assumed values, they must be marked as assumptions.
| Stage | Points that may be checked | Observable evidence | Boundary statement |
|---|---|---|---|
| CV and initial screening | Basic safety knowledge, awareness of tools and protective equipment, physical acceptance | Training records, shadowing experience, verifiable descriptions of past work | Self-assessment cannot replace a medical examination or safety training certificate |
| Interview | Understanding of the process and quality standards, and awareness of handling regulated old materials | Judgement on moisture content and coating questions during on-site questions and answers | Scenario answers cannot replace a practical assessment |
| Practical work or trial work | Complete small-area sanding and coating per the process and handle surface defects | Flatness, sanding mark control, and dust removal and coating records of the trial work | Passing trial work does not equal obtaining any statutory qualification |
| Onboarding and probation period | Comply with safety procedures, work per the shift version, and report anomalies | Safety inspection records, anomaly reporting and rectification records | Suitability and confirmation of employment are subject to the employer's assessment |

| Education (verify by target position) | Target entry position | Typical US entry requires no formal educational credential; China is verified separately | Requirements for most Chinese positions were not verified | Completed upper secondary education or an equivalent education recognition | By education stage | Education does not determine practical ability |
| Work safety and protective gear use training | All on-site workers | Has safety knowledge and protection capability for dust and solvent work | Generally required | Attend enterprise or third-party safety training and pass the assessment | Verify by specific course, qualification and mentoring arrangements; no uniform duration verified | Training records cannot replace on-site safety responsibility |
| On-the-job training and apprenticeship experience | Those entering without experience | Masters scraping, sanding, dust removal and coating processes | Generally required | Employer or master leads the crew, learning while doing | Verify by specific course, qualification and mentoring arrangements; no uniform duration verified | Proficiency depends on project type and the quality of supervision |
| Specialised work training (work at height, temporary electrical work, confined spaces, etc.) | Those taking part in the corresponding work | Meets the entry requirements of a specific project | Depends on the project | Attend specialised training and obtain the record | Verify by specific course, qualification and mentoring arrangements; no uniform duration verified | A training record does not automatically equal a statutory special operations certificate or project authorisation; verify by actual duties and jurisdiction |
| Identification and handling requirements for regulated old materials | Those handling old coatings of considerable age | Avoid health and environmental risks from improper disposal | Required depending on the situation | Assessed and disposed of by a qualified person per local regulations | Per local rules | This page does not provide testing conclusions; a professional must judge |
| Occupational qualification or skill grade (such as a construction-related occupational qualification) | Those wishing to improve their competitiveness | Counts as a plus with some employers and in project tendering | Not generally required | Take the assessment per the local occupational skill grade recognition requirements | Verify by specific course, qualification and mentoring arrangements; no uniform duration verified | Requirements and recognition vary by locality and must be verified locally |
Qualification boundary (one) | recruitment conditions, statutory entry requirements and project authorisation are three different states: meeting recruitment conditions does not equal obtaining a statutory qualification, and obtaining a training record does not equal gaining on-site sign-off authority.
Qualification boundary (two) | the United States relies mainly on on-the-job training and apprenticeship, and O*NET places this occupation in Job Zone 1-2; mainland China relies mainly on enterprise employment and on-project training, with additional requirements for specialised work such as work at height and temporary electrical work and for the disposal of regulated old materials; the two are not interchangeable.
Qualification boundary (three) | the preparation items listed on this page are directions for searching and verifying and do not constitute a formal qualification list of any body; where they differ from an employer notice or competent authority requirement, the latter prevails.
Qualification boundary (four) | this page does not provide individual medical examination conclusions, recruitment likelihood or pay promises.
No specific Chinese recruitment sample or channel share was obtained this round, and it is not asserted that most hiring goes through acquaintances or subcontracting; record the notice date, region, settlement and real recruitment status.
Verification suggestion | when looking at recruitment information, record the publication time, location, employment form (direct hire, labour subcontracting or piece rate per square metre), whether you must bring your own tools and protective equipment, whether travel and accommodation are included, and whether the schedule and settlement method are specified; this information often reflects the real conditions better than the page itself.
Boundary | the preparation paths and capability ladders on this page help you plan your learning and build evidence and do not constitute recruitment, promotion or qualification determinations. Real entry is subject to employer recruitment conditions, on-the-job training and practical assessment, and the regulations and specification requirements of your region for coating work and the disposal of regulated old materials.
Learns suitability checks, dust removal and basic tool use under a master or skilled worker; takes on only support steps, with abrasive and coating selection handled by the team leader.
Learning alongside (apprenticeship period)
Can independently complete the sanding and coating of conventional solid wood floors, check the finished work against the self-check sheet, and pause and report per procedure when anomalies or regulated old materials arise.
Independent work (junior sander and coater)
Can take on complex situations (large-area colour variation control, complex old coating treatment, irregular edges and corners) and lead a team to complete a whole-home renovation, taking responsibility for process handover and initial quality inspection. Regulated old coatings require separate verification of statutory qualification and authorisation, and proficiency or team leadership does not automatically confer disposal permission.
Proficiency and team leadership (skilled worker and team leader)
Takes part in process plans, quality standards and acceptance processes, can train others and handle rework and deviation determinations; requires the corresponding position authorisation.
Standards and quality (foreman, technician and quality inspection)
Editorial path: learn wooden floor scraping, cleaning and coating processes alongside the crew per the target recruitment and safety conditions, record practical work and reviews, and then explore team leadership, quality inspection or materials support. This is not an official complete promotion sequence or a guarantee; education, practical work, qualifications and authorisation are kept separate.
Qualification boundary | 'having been trained', 'obtaining a certificate', 'being appointed by an employer' and 'having sign-off authority' are four different states; the preparation items listed on this page do not equal any statutory qualification and do not automatically confer quality sign-off authority or regulated material disposal qualification.
US RC, JobZone1—2, education 47 / 35 / 16; typical BLS entry requires no formal educational credential. Chinese recruitment, specialised operations and regulated old material disposal qualifications are verified by actual duties and jurisdiction, and the general US description is not used as a substitute.
Summary | understand the path as a cycle of 'training — practice — assessment — authorisation': first meet the basic conditions and receive safety training, then build wood and coating experience on projects and work independently after passing assessment; for complex processes, specialised operations, regulated old material disposal and quality sign-off, the corresponding authorisation must be obtained.

Mainland China has not established public occupational wage statistics precisely corresponding to this occupation. The National Bureau of Statistics publishes the average wage of employed persons in urban units by industry category (such as construction), which is an industry definition that does not distinguish occupations and can only serve as a background proxy; the mainland China part of this page retains the visible 'Insufficient evidence:' marker and does not use industry averages, recruitment quotes or third-party estimates as substitutes.
The O*NET work context shows: exposed to contaminants 90%, hazardous equipment 59% and whole body vibration 44% every day, wearing specialised protective equipment 42%; long periods of bending or twisting the body 76%, kneeling, crouching or crawling 66%, repetitive motion 66%. Protective gear, dust removal and ventilation can reduce the burden, but dust, solvents and vibration are real costs.
The impact is mainly in clerical and calculation steps: area and abrasive and coating usage estimation, process and curing records, and checklists and information retrieval can be assisted by tools; moisture content and suitability judgement, abrasive and process selection, dust removal and ventilation and fire safety control, coating work and curing judgement, and finished work acceptance and quality sign-off remain with on-site personnel. Task exposure does not equal job replacement.
O*NET shows that this occupation usually does not require a formal educational credential (47% of respondents considered below high school sufficient, and 35% considered high school or equivalent necessary), and the process is mastered through on-the-job training or apprenticeship (Job Zone 1-2, SVP below 6.0). Actual requirements are subject to the employer's recruitment conditions and project requirements.
'Having been trained', 'obtaining a certificate', 'being appointed by an employer' and 'having sign-off authority' are four different states. Safety and specialised work training records are mostly generally required; disposal of regulated materials in old coatings of considerable age must be assessed and handled by a qualified person per local regulations. The preparation items listed on this page do not constitute a formal qualification list of any body.
Common failures include: skipping the moisture content and suitability measurement, failing to identify old coatings containing regulated substances, inadequate dust and solvent management (fire, explosion and poisoning risk), and missing records and change trails leading to rework and settlement disputes. Control points are inspecting and keeping records per procedure, and pausing and escalating per procedure.
Under the US definition the growth category is 'average' (about 3%–4%), but a projection is not an individual opportunity; actual opportunities depend on local decoration and renovation cycles. You can move to adjacent trades such as floor laying, carpet installation, tile and stone laying, terrazzo and carpentry (which require relearning the process), or to quality inspection, coating and wooden floor technical support, or construction management.
Source card | research process: first verify the occupational scope, tasks and work context of O*NET-SOC 47-2043.00, then take the wage and employment data from BLS OEWS May 2025 and the BLS 2024—2034 employment projections, and finally use the National Bureau of Statistics 2025 industry category average wages as the background proxy for mainland China; the US and mainland China data are presented separately, without splicing or conversion.
Source card | source register: the source register on this page lists the O*NET occupational profile and detailed information, BLS OEWS, BLS employment projections, National Bureau of Statistics industry average wages and the FermatMind definition rules; the source_refs of each fact point to an id within that register.
